Which grand slam will Roger Federer win his 15th slam, breaking the record currently held by Pete Sampras? The earliest possable would be the 2008 French Open if he somehow won the next 5 slams in a row, to give him 8 in a row, and 11 out of 12, including 2 French Opens. If he wins every non-French Open through 2008 Wimbledon but only wins 1 of the next 2 French Opens he would break it at 2008 Wimbledon, if he wins every non French Open through 2008 U.S Open but wins neither of the next 2 Frenchs or wins 1 of the next 2 Frenchs but not next years Australian he would break it at the 2008 U.S Open. If he wins both Wimbledon and the U.S Open the next 2 years, but not any of next years Australian or the next 2 Frenchs he would break it sometime in 2009.

haha awesome poll and good explanations :D i say US Open 2008, though Wimbledon 2008 would be more fitting since its his like favourite GS (im guessing), but i stil say US Open 2008

I think he will get all 4 this year and go on to defend his Australian Open title next year, I don't think he will win back to back French Open's though so I think he will get his 15th at Wimbledon next year like Lorenza said.

is there an option for "i dont know this thought is frying my brain!!" :)

to me at the pace he's at right now, the earliest i can see is 2008 wimbledon, otherwise its possibly 2008 us open, and if not then i dont think he'll win either the AO or french open in 2009, so wimbledon 2009....break sampras' record where sampras broke emerson's record

So the majority is saying he will win 5 of the next 6 slams, including 1 French. That's the only way he could get 15 at Wimbledon '08. Seems a little crazy to me..

Well, currently he has won 6 of the last 7 slams, made the final of the French last year, and appears to be getting better all the time. I guess I don't see why the idea of him winning 5 of the next 6 is that farfetched.

it's very optimistic to think that fed will break the record in 2008 , IMO not before 2009 , nobody can maintain that winning streak that he's in right now .. of course he's the best but i don't think he could take another 5 slame before at least 2 more years ..

He has maintained this winning streak for the better part of three years. In the last 11 Grand slams, he has either won, or lost (no earlier than the semis) to the eventual winner. That's pretty staggering when you think about it, and I maintain that Federer just continues to improve. I can't see a scenario where he isn't an overwhelming favorite to win the AO, Wimbledon and the US Open (unless he's injured, which he never seems to be). Even if he wins three this year, and three next year, he still breaks it by 2008. I just don't see any one challenging him except for Nadal on clay.

IMHO, two factors make it more likely than not that Federer could win 5 out of the next 6 slams. (1) His style of play is not so physical that he couldn't at least maintain his current form for two more years at least. (2) His current archrivals--the ones who on an excellent day, coupled with a not so good day for Federer, might win it all--simply are not as consistent in their slam showings as Federer. So the chances of another Safin Aussie Open are next to nil.

I'm gonna be REAL conservative here and go with the 2009 Aussie Open. After all, other than RG, the odds are that he'll lose one of the other (ahem, non-Wimbledon) majors. Then again, that may not happen until around 2012 at the level he's playing at...

I'm hoping that Fed will take The Grand Slam this year, that would put him at thirteen at the end of the year.. Then he will win the Aussie Open in 2008, won't win the French again, but succeed at Wimbledon 2008.

Just like mentioned above, I would actually be a little surprised if Fed wouldn't win 5 of the next 6 Grand Slams. I mean, the last two years, Nadal for me was the absolute favorite on clay, but I'm getting the feeling that Nadal is wearing down, his game is less dominating and players are finding ways to hit through his game. This on the contrary to Federer, I get the feeling that he actually is widening the gap with the players under him. Not saying that Nadal isn't a favorite for the french anymore, but imo he's not the only favorite for the french anymore, I think Federer has equal right to being favorite for the french.
