Which slam was Nadal's greatest serving performance?

At Roland Garros 2012, Nadal won 71 of 72 service games (1R-SF).
At USO 2010, Nadal had his serve broken only 5 times en route to the title (a record shared with Andy Roddick) and from 1R-SF, only had his serve broken twice, a record.

Which slam performance was Nadal's greatest service performance, Roland Garros 2012 or US Open 2010?

May I add:Wimby 2012, 2nd round?

Nadal served well in the 2nd round of Wimbledon 2012, but we're talking about performance throughout the entire slam here, or for most of the slam, not just a couple of rounds (if that were the case, there would be too many slams too consider, since Nadal has been very dominant in a lot of his opening round encounters, especially at Roland Garros).

USO 2010 was definitely where he served the hardest, at least based on memory(he may have had a faster mph/kph in another slam), remember a quote that toni or nadal said about not doing that as much. something along the lines of "the ball comes back faster" It seems like Nadal could launch them but prefers not to.

it's the USO without a doubt.

Holding serve on clay isn't the same thing as "serving well" IMO. I think Rafa can serve mediocre and still hold on clay because there are so few aces.

The dude changed his entire serve to uncork the action he did in route to the USO title. It was an impressive performance. I didn't think a Clay specialist would have what it took to ever win a tournament on that surface, but he did, and that's damn impressive.

How about FO 2009? That damn, lucky ******* Soderling. What did he drink that day?
BTW, I heard that from now on, Wimby is NOT going to pull on the roof, unless there are 5 inches of rain...measured on the court, by predicted by forecast. Lights, or no lights, matches will go on w/o roof too.

Nadal served very quickly in the final of Roland Garros 2012 (served 129 MPH, one of his fastest serves).

Also, Nadal was only broken once before the final at Roland Garros 2012, but twice before the final of US Open 2010.

has there ever been a correlation with the # of butt picks and the type of serve he is going to do? could be a poker tell, ie Agassi-Becker

USO 2010 for me. Had never seen him serve that well before or since.

Definitely USO 2010 without a doubt. Btw, a poll could have made things clearer about people's opinion instead of each one posting a reply.

US 2010 - Fast/consistent/came at big moments.

anytime Nadal has Serving records that line up with Roddicks, You know he was serving very well.

US Open performance 2010.

RG 2012 he was unstoppable, but his actual serve wasn't a weapon like in the US open 2010.

USO 2010 and it´s not even close, he never served as good before and after his route to USO title

RG statistics to use here is not an argument for best serving....

He can holde his service games on clay easier than on HC - simply he is winning points in rallies, while on HC vs good returner - return came back faster + 2nd serves can be punished more

So argument about service games hold at RG is irrelevant, hi sbest service performance during slam was USO 2010 and by far best.

That's a lot more than Nadal usually averages and it's more than Federer or Djokovic typically average on the first serve. It was quite significant.

120mph is only slightly above Nadal's regular average. Even in the loss to Rosol, he averaged 120mph (and hit 19 aces). As Nadal said back in 2010, the serve wasn't what won him the US Open. It was his position in the court, which was completely different to EVERY other year at the US Open. And do know what Nadal averaged on the 1st serve in that 2010 US Open final? 116mph. His slowest serving match of the event.

Dudes, Nadal not getting broken on clay has little to do with his serve.

USO without a doubt.

2011 Wimbledon.

He served imprecciable....but had a mental breakdown against Novak.

Agree. Don't have the stats but I was pretty amazed by how well he served in the first set of the final especially and still came up short against Djesus.

And in the 2011 Wimbledon final vs Djokovic, Nadal averaged over 120mph. Didn't make a difference, as serving rarely does when you are outplayed from the baseline.

Say that to Sampras.

I'll say it to everyone in the game today, but I won't say it to players in the 90s/early2000 (Sampras/Rafter etc.). Today though, the big-serving guys like Isner, Raonic, Karlovic, don't beat the great baseliners (at least at the slams). Then again, they don't backup their big serves with net-charging.
