ok. its real simple. so many people are getting jucie because azarenka and whoever is using it. real simple: the steam is WAY better than the juice. go demo for yourself and if you still think juice is a better racket,well....you suck at tennis:p

Sorry to resurrect this thread. Thought I would just add my 2 cents and say that the OP was absolutely spot on with these 2 rackets! Just tested the juice 100 and the steam, and ugly paint jobs notwithstanding, they absolutely played very well indeed. The juice was strung with full poly and the steam had nxt. Both very comfortable and I had no pain after playing. Strangely they both played very similarly and I would challenge anyone to say which was better. My friend who loaned me the sticks came to a great decision and got both of them because they played so well. Would encourage those who like tweeners to give these 2 a play test , :)

Never played this steam (though want to look at the new 99s), but have been very impressed with the J100. Definitely for someone wanting a slight variation or two on the APD or PD.

That stick looks like somebody gave it a Cosby Sweater.

Agree with poster above about this... great line!... BTW, it's ironic I now use this frame given how I was scathing about pj, marketing, whatever at the start of this thread.

Your argument doesn't hold water because Wilson has marketed the Steam and Juice equally as much. If you like the Steam "way better" than use it. I just got ahold of one so I can do my own comparison. I did notice right off the bat, the Steam feels lighter so I will need to add about 10 grams to get it to match up with my Juice. It's also .25 longer, so maybe that scares some people away? Azarenka did very well with the Juice and that also gave it a lot of positive exposure. The Steam doesn't seem as visible among the Pros as the Juice.

Either way, I think once the new Steam 99 and 99s come out, the Steam 100 will fade into the night.

Zapvor, I don't know how old you actually are, but comments like this one you made above, make you appear very immature...

I guess Gulbis, Nishikori and Kvitova all "suck at tennis" ? :)

^^ That would be true, but they aren't using a real steam.

wilson Blx steam 100

I have two of these racquets. One has the writing wilson on the side of the racquet which mine has also. But my other one hasent got the writing wilson on it. Do you know why??Some one said its just means one of the racquets are the first model and the other one is a series 2 version. The racquet with the writing wilson on the side of the frame plays and feels soo much better than the other one. Which is why Im confused.
Some one also said different country have different paint job? Any help

The original BLX Steam 100 has yellow, and similar to the Juice in paint job. Check out the Wilson website to see the differences.

i don't know if this helps, but the one i have has "BLX" written on the side of the throat in silver against red, and "Wilson" in white against blue. It's identical to what is on Wilson's site (see the 2nd picture and use Zoom): http://www.wilson.com/en-us/tennis/rackets/steam-100-tennis-racket/

No idea why one of yours would have a different paint job, or why the OP's has "Wilson" instead of "BLX" on the side of the throat.

Maybe the ones sold in the USA say Wilson and the ones outside of the USA say BLX? I have no idea.

FWIW, Wilson just released the BLX Envy 100, which looks like the original Steam 100 BLX, but lighter.

Paul the Steam in the Italian video does look different, in fact the graphics on the frame looks badly done. It's probably a prototype frame.

I dont thinks its a prototype because I have one exactly the same

friend of mine had a Steam 100 crack in his hand on the coaching court last night, I heard it (from the next court over)

cracked right through at 4 and 8, no impact marks at all, just died

is this a 'thing'? or a bit of a one off?

This old amazon listing has some bullet points about it which could be clues as to why these girls like it:
About this item
  • Power and control are fused together in the new Wilson Steam 100 BLX which offers directional control
  • demanded by players as they dictate the action While originally appearing to have specs that are
  • similar to the Juice 100 BLX the two play extremely differently thanks to very different balance points
  • head and beam shapes The more rectangular beam of the Steam 100 BLX offers a more flexible feel
  • in the throat for exceptional touch and depth control By decreasing the weight and moving the balance ..

I can attest having got a steam 100 blx secondhand on offer a month ago (as a collectible; it was preserved as never strung, but seemed to have an old storage accident big paint chipped spot on a rim side, which I painted over ( a photo of the chipped spot here ), and have now covered the edges and sides with protective tape; A pic I just took now of it.).

It does have that middle semi-box beam throat and feel of that "middle stability" while keeping its free power, and being able to swing out with plow. My subjective feeling,
but yes, it's decently light (315 swingweight strung) , and comfortable at the same time.

It could be a "tweener" classic. It's old-school specs are at 16x20, with 27.25 in. length extended, which makes it seem like an offshoot related descendent of the hyper-hammer legacy, a cousin like the mid-2000's ntour 95's, k-tour 95's, and closer peer relative of the tour 95 blx (post 2010).
