Does this mean Murray will have to play Djokovic in the semis ?? and he can avoid the top 2 boys, nadal and Federer til then finals ?
Not as the fourth seed.
A friend of mine explained it thus:
The slots for 1 and 2 are fixed -- one at the top of the draw and the other at the bottom. Seeds 3 and 4 also have fixed slots that ONly they can occupy but EITHER of them can occupy these slots; one in the top half and the other in the bottom half. #3 doesn't automatically head to the bottom half to face #2 and #4 doesn't automatically head to the top to face #1 . They draw lots to figure out where #3 and 4 go. Similarly, the slots for a group #5-8 are fixed as a group, then they draw lots to figure out where they go within those 4 slots. So #5 will not meet a top-4 seed before the quarters but in the quarters he could meet any of seeds 1-4.
