Hi TW,

I saw online that on October 30, 2007, the 2001 Wimbledon Finals betweem Goran Ivanisevic and Patrick Rafter is supposed to be released on DVD.

My two related questions are...

1) Are you expecting to carry this item?

2) If so, when might you expect them to be listed for Sale on the TW site?

All My Best,
John

Hi TW,

Might you have any insight as to if you will be carrying this DVD?

BreakPoint,

That is great if you might have been able to help get the DVD released, and it is such an incredible Match on so many levels!

All My Best,
John

6.1,

I'm pretty sure TW will be carrying this DVD since they carry almost all the other Wimbledon DVDs and they got all 4 of the ones that were released last year (yes, I was also responsible for helping to get the '01 Federer vs. Sampras, and '77 Borg vs. Gerulatitis matches out on DVD. ).

And, yes, the '01 Ivanisevic vs. Rafter match was an incredible match that definitely deserves to be out on DVD, which is why I pushed Kultur (the company that publishes these DVD's) to get this match out on DVD asap (along with the more recent classic - the just passed '07 Federer vs. Nadal final). :D

Do these matches feature commentary? I'm really wanting to buy some Rafter matches and my issue has been that many people are selling recorded copies and horrible productions. I know that I can buy these matches from TW with no worries. I guess my question is whether or not these are NBC productions?

They are the original BBC productions/broadcasts, so no, they are not the NBC productions nor are they recorded off of someone's TV. They are the original master digital tapes and the picture quality is absolutely outstanding, even on my 12-year old tube TV. The commetators are Pat Cash and that English guy that hosts all the BBC Wimbledon broascasts, I forgot his name. No commercials and they stay on-court during the changeovers. I highly recommend these DVDs.

Thanks BP, I hope TW sends you a commission check on the two videos I'm going to buy tomorrow!
You're welcome, DR8! :D

BTW, I should mention that John Lloyd also jumps in with some commentary after the 1st set. But the best part about this match is the rowdy Monday afternoon final crowds which you almost never experience at Wimbledon.

It would be nice if I got a commission, wouldn't it? ;) LOL
