RDS 001 MP vs. RDS 003

Hello,

I only played with the 001 for a while but i`d say its
Strengths: Crisp, Accurate, Lowish powered (dont know if thats good or bad for you), Excellent spin potential, Large sweetspot, Forgivining on miss hits (for a players racket), Easy to generate head speed
Weakness: Serving, Stiff if you miss sweetspot

I own the RDS003 and i`d say
Strengths: Serving, Spin potential, Serving, Medium power, Serving, Accurate, Serving, Large sweetspot, Serving, Very forgiving, Easy to generate head speed
Weaknesses: Volleys (i`m not a great volleyer though, so it could be me)

I prefer the 003 to the 001 but you need to demo both as they are really different. Both are great sticks as with most Yonex`s. Did i mention i like the 003 for serving!!!

I use the 001 Mid right now. I'm looking to transition into a bigger head, more manuveribility at net, and little more pop.

RDS 001 MP and RDS 003 both fit these criterias, so I'm hesitant on choosing one.

i would say to go with the RDS003 because : 1. Alot of players dont have the physical stength and stamina to keep hitting the ball deep with the Rds001.
2. It would also be problems for serving cause in non pro levels the serve is always important.
3. Rds 003 does produce more power and also features great spin potential.
so if you kinda wondering to go for more spin and set your points up then rds001 should be you wants. However, If your the player that likes to hit it flat or with spin along with producing errors and winners rds003 should be your want

I own a 001mp and hit with a 003 and I can honestly say I liked my 001 much more. While the 003 was forgiving so is my 001, they both produce great spin, while the 003 did have added power it was lacking in control which for me was a negative, while both were very maneuverable the more hl balance of the 001 gave it a good edge, and finally touch and feel go easily to the 001. Now honestly if your a fairly strong person the 001 strung @ 59-60lb mains and 56lb crosses you should be able to handle it, the 003 for me was too powerful even after adjusting my stroke. Heres what I think, if you favor doubles play the 003 is a solid choice for its power on serve and at net, and for a singles player the 001 is the way to go.

ME: 3.5 singles and doubles player 5'10" 205lb 16yrs

mmmmmmmm no... The 001 is not lacking on serve in fact that was the main selling point for me on the stik and its only 11.8oz w/ a 322 sw which is not that hard to get around unless u have a smaller frame which I admit I dont

do you happen to know how much more pop there is from the RDS 001 mid to the midplus?

Considerably more, I could hit w/ the mid but it was much more strenuious on my arm. If I had to put an ammount on it Id say 40-60% more pop

edit:the mid to the 003 80-100% more pop

I've been having good results with the RDS 002 Tour and it occurred to me that you might want to also consider that one it you are going to try some demos. It's quite headlight and has a nice balance of stability and manueverability for me - lots of fun for doubles with enough all court control for singles, too.

If you are looking for a frame that is definately lighter than your mid, then it looks like the 001 and 003 mp's are the ones to try, but if you are hunting something that's just less demanding than your mid, the 002 Tour could be worth a look. I've tried lighter frames in recent years, but I always miss the heft when I move forward and this racquet has a headsize and balance that make it quite easy to put on the ball.

I always wanted to try the 001 MP but never got the chance due to high prices.

I used the 003 for over a year and it's a great racket. You can't really go wrong. I moved on eventually because of the weight and the power level which was a little high for me because I try and use a full swing and prefer a lower tension.

I'm now looking at moving to the Prince NXG midplus. Same headsize, same length, but it has a lower power level and a thinner beam, and a heaftier weight for stability. I use a 1HB and the 27.25 length doesn't seem detract from anything.

I haven't switched yet. I'm tight on money right now, and my parents can't help because they're planning a vacation for the summer. I'm still meandering between the two though :(

Fuzz, is the RDS002 Tour faster at net than the RDS001 mid? That's pretty much my biggest concern. I'm trying to find a racquet quicker at net, while maintaining that similar solid feeling. Based on the specs, the RDS002 Tour seems to be the slower racquet.

The tour is more slugish at net and vollys did not feel as crisp. I liked the 001 in all areas of the court compared to the tour. If u want slightly more weight in a manueverable stik Id also try the rqis1 tour slightly less manueverable but the ammount of spin I was able to produce was phenominal.

heres how I see the rqis1 and the 001

power, 001
control/placement, rqis
comfort, 001
spin, rqis
groundies/baseline, rqis/001 (rqis is more consistant but 001 has the pop for winners)
net/volleys, 001
touch/feel, rqis
drop shots, rqis
serve, 001
kill shots/winners(all areas on the court,) 001

winner RDS 001 w/ 6 out of ten areas of play
my ratings 001 8.5/10 rqis 7/10

My assumption, if ur a serve & volleyr or all courter go for the 001... If ur a baseline basher, grinder, or pusher go for the rqis
