I'am buying my racket in 4 days, and i still can't make up my mind on which one. I spent days on the TW fourms, TW Website and watched many reviews.
Finally, i have chosen three rackets, and was hoping any of you guys who have tried any racket in the list, give a brief experience with it and vote on the poll.

As the title suggests the rackets are:

1)Head Youtek IG Prestige Pro 2012
2)Wilson 6.1 Blx 16x18 2012
3)Babolat Pure Drive Roddick 2012

About me: 4.0-4.5 Player. Amazing Backhand and Serve, decent forehand. Medium to long swing on ground strokes. Looking for amazing comfort and feel, along with good power from the mass of the racket. Currently using the Babolat Pure Drive GT leaded up to 340 gms with 331 Swing Weight. I really like how my babolat performs , but the feel is hollow and not clean. Also no consistence response from string bed.

Please Vote on the Poll and give a brief review if you have tried any of the rackets which i have listed. The Wilson is not yet released, but people who have tried the older iteration of the same racket, please post.

I've played with all 3 for good periods of time, granted they were different iterations of all 3, microgel, ncode, swirly..

I feel like you can just do more with the Babolat, as far being a great platform raq for customization and different set ups.

So why not get the new regular PD non-roddick since you play with the PD GT?? IMO felt better than the new Roddick as far as balance and feel and also a better platform for customising..

The Babolat may have great power, but adding lead will increase the power to a point where i can't place the ball in the court.

I've played/tested different versions of all of these. The BLX would probably be a good fit for you since it doesn't have nearly as hollow a feeling as the Babolat does but still has plenty of free power like the PD that you are used to right now. The Prestige may be a bit too lacking in the power department especially in comparison to the PD. I would say that the BLX is probably going to be the best as it kid of falls in between the extremes of the other two frames.

People say that the weight and mass of the Prestige also make it a pretty powerful racket. Power is a factor, but i'm looking for exceptional feel and comfort.

Powerful in a different sense though. WIth the PD that you have been using, you are very much used to free/easy power. You will not find that with a Prestige at all. You have to supply your own power with that line of frames because it require more strength and effort to extract the power from that frame. The new BLX will have the comfort that you are looking for (as long as you don't go too high with the string tension) while giving you an easily accesible reserve of power.

Awesome. I remember playing with the K factor version of the 95, but it was a long time ago and if my memory is right, I loved the feel. Im leaning towards the wilson now, but lets see how the poll results go.

And do you think stringing at around 52 will provide ample forgivenesss, hypothetically considering that i'm shifting to the Wilson which has a smaller head? I string my babolat at 58lbs

Trust me, it takes a very long, developed swing to get the full power out of the PresPro or any other Prestige for that matter. I think you will find the new BLX very much to your liking.

I would start out at 55 and see how that feels for you at first. What string are you using?

One reason to go with the Prestige is Wilson's awful quality control - only an issue if you want more than one though.

Hi holytennis,

My own recent experience with various rackets suggests you should be careful in how you take power into consideration. I was playing with rackets with decent power (APD GT, IG Extreme MP strung low) and been on a meandering journey through IG Radical Pro, Exo3 Tour 100, Dunlop Bio 500 Tour and various others. I have since settled on a IG Prestige MP which has even less free power than the Prestige Pro. However, the solidity of the frame, control and confidence I get from it is such that I feel able to hit the ball with far more of my own power than any of the other rackets. I am therefore hitting the ball harder and more accurately than ever plus my defense against heavy hitters is an order of magnitude better. Just my thoughts. Free power vs ability to apply more of your own. Of course, if you can control a power racket very well, bonus!

If you are ordering from somewhere reputable you can actually request that your frames be matched, usually for a small fee. This way you will get your frames all with relatively close weight, SW and balance.

Wilson has been known to have rather wide tolerances on their acceptable range for their frames. So if you end up ordering the Wilsons make sure you get them matched first.

When i'am confident, I too can rip the ball and generate all the pace i need on my own. However, on a bright sunny day with temperatures soaring upto 38 degree celcius, I won't have the energy to swing with confidence.

The Wilson will have more plow thru from the weight of the racquet. The Prestige does not have the plow of the Wilson and you have to swing it faster to maintain depth.

I know where you're coming from. My ego says stick with Prestige and work on my swing and game but part of me thinks I can refine my skills differently with a more naturally powerful racket and I can make gains when I am tired. Going to buy one, put ego to one side and just work out which is best regardless.

Although I voted for the Wilson, I would definitely recommend (as someone has already said) that you get them matched as I have two 6.1 95s which are both heavier than they should be and a friend whose 6.1 95 is heavier still than mine...

I have five Wilson K-Pro Staffs - they weigh 12.6, 12.7, 12.9, 12.9 and 13.1 oz. I haven't measured the SWs but those with different weights play differently. Wilson is generally the worst of the major companies and I'd suggest asking whoever you're buying from to match - even then, though, you may get moderately different specs to what you expect.

Or add lead tape.

The Prestiges just beg for tape from 10 to 2.

In my book, these are all pretty powerful racquets. In terms of power, they probably go Pure Drive, then 6.1 BLX95, then Prestige Pro. However, in terms of comfort, feel, I would reverse the order. Since you can't demo, you will have to determine which is more important to you. Also, do you have any arm problems? If so, the Prestige is probably the safest bet of the three.
The good news is that all three are good racquets and are played by numerous good players and pros through out the world.

no arm problems..not yet atleast with my pure drive..

Are you my twin:shock:, look at my signature lol. Anyways I would either go with the new Six One 95 or the new Pure Drive, the prestige would be a radical change from the Pure Drive and I don't think it is as good a racquet either

The IG Prestige Pro is a great racket. I too shifted from the Old pure drive gt, trust me its not a bad option.

Hi Racketfever, How are you getting on with the Pro vs MPs? Which do you play matches with? I just picked up a Pure Drive Roddick to test but playing with the MP at the moment. Also got a Mid but haven't hit it yet.
Is the Prestige Pro much better than your old Pure Drives?

Yes, my ig prestige pro is better than my old Pure Drive. I probably can never handle a 90 sq inch racket like the ig mid. I use the MP usually during the 1st to 2nd sets and when i feel i can no longer swing hard on the ball, i shift to the pro, which offers a bit more forgiveness, power and spin. Tell me how it goes with the mid, with a bit of comparisons between the mid and the midplus.

David, when are you getting your pure drive roddick? As soon as you hit with please post thoughts here, and a comparison between the ig MP and the PDGR. I'am ordering this Saturday, and i still haven't made up my mind about which racket i'm about to buy. I have been debating about which racket to buy, and have constantly kept postponing my purchase. This is it now. If i can't make up my mind by saturday, I'm buying the IG Prestige Pro.Period.

I just got a demo of the Roddick today and using it tonight. Playing three sets; one with Roddick (racket!), one with my IG Prestige MP that has just been strung lower with RPM Blast, and one with my shiny IG Mid (the one with a head the size of a badminton racket!). Will report back asap.
