hitman.. Kamado grill at costco for 550 bucks. seriously thinking about picking one up. any feed backs on the puppy?? i saw it in the NJ/NY costco.

Costco%20Kamado.jpg

That is a Meteor Bull "kamado" styled ceramic grill, with a pebbled exterior similar to the Big Green Egg. Some of these less expensive grills have problems with cracking of the inner liner. This particular model has had at least one report of a problem with warping of the lid.

It does look to be a pretty good bargain, especially since the side tables are included in the price. If it comes with a solid warranty, looks like a good deal!

Dats, you wear Yonex shoes? Need a quick review on them if you do. Thnx. You should come to Elvisland with HW and Sup, maybe Schmad and friend. Good music, good food, good company.

Quick Question: Do I need 100 lbs of charcoal for just a couple of T Bones only? And how easy is it to refill charcoal?

xisbum -- back in my yonex phase which lasted close to a decade -- i wore a couple of yonex shoes. funnily they are code named SHT-105 for example. and for the most part they are the SHT. to me they felt solid and bulky and durable. very much like the adidas barricades in terms of durability and bulk. they ran a bit small so get a size larger. also they are unisex - one line for both men and women.

i don't think you've ever met the sapient007 have you JRstriker12? he's killed more t-bones than you've seen in your entire life. in some parts of the world he's a legend and in one village in china he's a father figure.

had another burger at kraze burger. it's messy and delicious. better than BGR in my admittedly terrible culinary opinion.

I've seen sappy's buffet skills. Let me rephrase.... "more t-bones than the average, non-sappy, person could eat in a week."

omg - if i could get a slice that doesn't bounce - that would be the ultimate shot. is it a question of RPM's or is there a way to somehow hit the ball so it loses ALL air pressure inside?

Quick Question: Do I need 100 lbs of charcoal for just a couple of T Bones only? And how easy is it to refill charcoal?

One of the advantages of a ceramic grill is that you use very little charcoal. The liner absorbs a lot of the heat, and the grill is so well insulated that little heat is lost. My grill can be 800 degrees interior temp, and I can still rest my hand comfortably on the surface. DON'T try that with a steel Weber grill!

The grill is also air tight. Interior cooking temp is regulated by the size of the air entry and exit holes. Reduced air flow means lest moisture is blowing out of the grill, is being retained in the food.

After cooking, the air holes are all sealed, and the fire goes out almost immediately. The partially burned charcoal can be re-used for your next grilling adventure.

How hard is it to add charcoal? Don't really know with the Costco grill, but on mine it is not that easy. The cooking grate is hinged at the front, but it's not large enough to easily allow the addition of hot coals. Luckily, a full loac of charcoal will last almost 24 hours, more with really high-grade coconut briquettes. That's more than enough to cook a pork shoulder or brisket. Probably enough for a whole pig, if it would fit inside.

thx hitman!
seems like I just need to add charcoal before I grill. I hate to waste charcoal. I only use lump and it burns out pretty quick. ~ 1 hr.
just need a balcony . can't imagine putting the heavy thing on a deck.

oh yeah forgot to ask, is a Webber genesis worth it given its 2x the cost of a regular grill? also have u heard of those restore Webber grill sites? they have one near where I live and cost is a little cheaper than an updated model. both my charcoal and gas is starting to rust. looking to replace by next fall. just wanted some choices. thx.

Glad I could help facilitate the 'Dueling Deals with the Devil 2012'! Apparently the devil team hasn't been this formidable since... maybe it has never been this formidable:shock:

i think we might get promoted to carrying people's bags if we fill the cups correctly...might need to practice filling them this week...

schap -- good 8.5 season (if that was our last match) -- undefeated! i pretty much used that league as a way to demo frames and talk about equipment...

Moving from western PA to philadelphia in May, can anyone give me the low down on the tennis scene, or reasonable places to play around center city?

I dont think anyone here knows much about philly tennis. Im really the closest person in our group to philly and Im still about 1 hour away. Most of these poeple are DC folks with a couple BMore folks splattered in.

When you get settled in let me know I will swing up there and we can hit. Then I can go get a steak wit.

The thing you get the with the webers is the hoods of a weber grill are way thicker than the brinkmans, char-broils etc.. Meaning they have much better heat retention. Cooking steaks, burgers and dogs it wont matter. But if you are gonna throw something in there for a while it should cook a little faster and probably more even.

When I moved in my house my mom told me she woudl buy me a grill as housewarming gift. We went and looked and I almost bought a genesis, then i saw this grill called a Char-Griller Duo. It had a gas grill on side and a charcoal grill on the other side. I thought how great when time is of the essence i can just fire up the gas part. I bought the side smoker box for it as well it was an extra 70 bucks. I used the gas grill one time so far in three years. I use the side burner to light my charcoal chimney then so I have never even filled up the propane tank in three years. Instead of paying 400 plus for a grill it costed mom 280. Needles to say she was happy.

If I had it to do over again I would have just bought the charcoal grill with the smoker box and never messed with the gas side.

This is the one I have and its freaking huge.

This is the one I would rather have. Its slightly cheaper and smaller. I have even seen a side charcoal lighter/burner accesory that uses the small LP bottles.

sweet. seems like I am better off getting two things separately. I love charcoal but its really hard to control the heat and waiting to heat up. I grill 3 times a week. (twice a week in winter time). so i wanted something easy to preheat.

The gas will be faster for sure.

But using the side burner to light the charcoal in the charcoal chimney saves a bunch of time. I use hardwood lump for stuff that needs to cook fast. It burns hotter and faster, which makes it tough to smoke with. but some hardwood lump and a handful of woodchips is perfect to cook anything on that needs less than an hour.

Those Charcoal Chimneys really work. Alot of people use newspaper but a if you take a couple papertowles and spray a little pam on them they will burn longer and more comlpete than newspapder and you dont get as much ash floating through the air.

zap zap zap -- once again i don't think you've really thought it out. $6000 is a solid chunk of money but it's not enough to satisfy auzzie's crazy appetite for racquets. not even close.

at $200 a stick that's only 30 racquets. hahahaha. auzzie had a big dinner last night and shat out 30 racquets.

at $100 a stick that's 60 racquets. that's probably the number of racquets auzzie tested out last month.

at $50 a stick that's 120 racquets. it's nothing to laugh at for most people. but for auzzie it IS something to laugh at. it's ridiculous. epic fail. might as well tell beethoven that he can write a symphony but he's limited to 120 notes.

120 racquets is a normal demo session for Auzzie...he usually backs up a uhaul to the courts...then spends the first 30 minutes unloading all his new toys for the week...

but seriously, the guy buys "LOTS" of old rando frames...haha, who does that?
