haven't read anything in the 12hrs...but...

GD...I'm feelin' like a HERO! I fixed my youngest's "Dancing Flower" (Flip Flap....google it...but it's the even cheaper $1 store version). All those small pieces be dammmmed!

Dinner tonight....Jambalaya from scratch. YUM!

Jambalaya is my new favorite way to dispose of leftovers! Used to be fried rice or stir fry. Tomato base, thyme, various other spicies and a touch of heavy cream. Not authentic Im sure, but yum!

it comes from NAM man, where it is hot and humid!

aren't you supposed to eat hot and spicy food when its hot?
makes you sweat and then you cool off or somethin?

i dunno, all i know is pho75 was PACKED and i tried to order #6
but they were out of "fat brisket".
i also tried to order cha gio but was almost run out of their like
the soup natttzi. "only noodle soups here pal!"

but seriously only soup and they are out of the thing i ordered.. weak.

the strawberry boba from next door was the bomb on a hot day though.

Yikes. Hubs ate his portion (I had leftover Fideau, yum!) and I've already packed away what was leftover. I'll snap one next time it's out and on a plate.

Let's not get into why he wasn't eating what I had and I was cooking "fresh" for him. He is normally a huge fan of whatever I concoct, even digressing into what we affectionately call primal grunting, but he's not in the mood for anything "strange" or "different" ATM. Sigh. So many cool things to try, but alas, the standard repertoire will have to suffice.

How is Baby CB these days? How many weeks? Anywheres close to sleeping through the night?

I am sure the Jamba is excellent. You are an excellent cook.

baby is doing well. (Unlike her parents...) my sleeping pattern is so messed up nowadays. So bad, sometimes I take a nap during lunchtime at work. Starting to sleep after 1am to 7am. Then using her lungs again for the next 14 hours.

What is three to discuss?

The guy got stopped at a checkpoint the cops said the dog smelled something. When they asked him to get out of the car he locked himself in it and tried to talk himself out of it, only irritating the officers. The cop walked around the to the other side of the car and told him to close his eyes. They they tased him just like he deserved.

Here is what would have heppened if I was in that cr.

Cop "Sir, our Dog smelled something and were are going to have to search it. do you have any illegal aliens or drugs in the car?

Me "no sir"

Cop " we need you to pull into this area so we can search?

Me "You know that really sucks, but sure I aint got nothing to gide"

Then they tear car apart and waste 3 hours of my time.

No worries, Downs...you actually got my shoulder.

Just promise you'll do the same to the opponents this weekend!

xisbum who is the best, hendrix?

and surely that means that santana is the best naturalized-american guitarist from the 60s

also can't wait to get home and install this SSD

Also, I'm considering going back to a two handed backhand volley.

Pros/cons of one handed bh volley vs. two handed bh volley.

Naturalized in 1965, which means he was as American as anyone when he hit the big time. Once an American, always an American, I always says. Unless you have Native American ancestry; then you can call yourself anything you want since it's really your continent. The rest of us are just squatters.

You got the best; that man could do anything with a guitar. What a waste of talent.

Later in the 70s, that Jesus-looking guy and Joe Walsh with the Eagles were pretty good, too.

And good luck with that LSD or whatever thingie. :)

i felt really bad! sorry!

and yes, i will pummel people on the courts this weekend...we have a good shot at nationals!!

Its ok!!! Really! Not even a bruise or a sore spot!

But it was interesting to see...when we finally played two back, we got into points better. Me at the net doesn't exactly = best playing position for my partner and I. So that is our plan if we come up against a Downs clone!

Speaking of which, the fact that you could peg me says just how well you are playing...most people can't do that off of my partner's serve!

Uhhh, no... I'm not getting out.

I was with a friend a few weeks ago and we were driving through Clarendon. Cop pulls us over and tells my friend (who was driving) that he made an illegal left turn even though we were going straight down Clarendon Blvd. He then tells my friend to get out of the vehicle. He refuses. Cop asks if he's had anything to drink. He refuses to answer. Cop goes over to another cop, he comes over and the pattern repeats. Finally my friend asks if we are free to leave and the cop says yes, so we drive away.

No ticket, no anything.

I'm not anti-law enforcement (having just left a job with the FBI) but cops count on citizens being either incompetent or scared when they try to force you to comply. I am neither of those things.

The next week I'm at the MMA gym, and who do I see? The same cop. I struck up a conversation with him and he didn't even remember me.

no way. wife would never suspect I use a lightning rod/ fancy alum cloth hanger as a racquet.

is it true that folks string those extra tight? like in the 60 lb range? don't know how folks hit a ball with a hitting area of sap's expert mode toilet pic?

LOL. When I last played with it back in the early 80s, I didn't know much about strings and tensions. I know it has a tremendous trampoline effect, and the one time I've hit with it recently (about 4 years ago at FRC), I had no trouble hitting the sweet spot again. Quite an experience, but no way would I want to go back that far.

I used t..2000 once.... it served bombs! Still got one in the house. But I think ill stick to my trusty wilblxPOs today.

40, huh? That's about when I got serious about tennis - joined an indoor club and started playing year-round. Game took a big jump, then leveled out to basically what it is now, with better racquet technology making up for physical shortcomings.

BTW, almost passed out on the court yesterday - 3rd time in the last 2 weeks. I think my body is telling me that in this heat wave (indexes above 105F every day), I'm good for maybe an hour before vital organs start shutting down. Bummer.

Listening to some excellent sounds this a.m. - Santana, particularly. Nice, mellow Latino sound for a lazy Sunday morning.

Again, Happy BD to a good bud. :)

Hi, wife and I are 40, in Loudoun Co. I'm getting back the the game after being a decent player in high school. Wasn't good enough to make the college team however. I am introducing my wife and daughter to the game. (Trying to get my 5yo daughter hooked, lol)

Sounds good momo! Still lots of fun. I took off about 9 years off from tennis too, after high school. Played football and basketball during those years. Really messed up my knee during those years, so now tennis is the only real sport I can play without killing it.

topaz...good 8.0 season! we were soo close to nationals! if my partner and i win our match, or if you're partner is on his normal game, then we beat the sectional champs MD and move forward...oh well -- like i always say, we still have to go to work next week! fun season nonetheless...great playing!

Downs!!! AAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! SO CLOSE!

You guys had the tough one though. B and I should have pulled that out. I keep banging my head over it. I don't know how I was hitting half the shots I was...but it wasn't enough. B, I think, just wasn't warmed up or woken up. The lack of warmup wasn't good for his serving arm. Can't really complain, he's an awesome partner!!! I'm considering trying to not get moved up so we can keep on going! (he is probably rooting for me to get bumped, haha!)

Perhaps we can at least take a 7.5 combo team to the VA title? I still haven't heard back from our Firedragon friend.

For those at home...our 8.0 team came in second, making us Mid-Atlantic 8.0 finalists. Got some swag, too. Going into the final match today, the MD team and us were tied on ALL numbers, individual wins, sets lost and even games lost. Only they were 2-0 and we were 1-1. Funny, that tennis math. And only 7 games separated the 3rd place team (our fellow NOVA compatriots) from us.

Downs prematch pep talks:

"Its just tennis. This is fun. We still have to go to our crappy jobs on Monday. There are starving people in Africa."

Go get 'em tiger! ;)

yep....soo close! oh well...the lack of warmup didn't help...stupid rain! i wished we were outside...i like the hot sun, the wind, and all the elements...plus it would've slowed the ball down a little, from that HUGE hitter that A and I played...

I went to a tourney this weekend to support a friend's match. I was really amazed how well the opposite dress in their attire? I mean, no one wore t-shirts and shorts. Almost all the female players wore something that either came from the attire shop in TW. I was wondering if that's the norm?

They wanna look good whether they're playing good or bad??

Whereas, some of us like to wear one sweaty gray JMU t-shirt everywhere, while kicking serious arse - zing! haha

10, 9, 8, 7... til HW mentions some wear basketball shorts with no pockets...
