Decisive moment in this season? Rome final!

Before Rome Djokovic had four losses:

Against Murray in Dubai, but that was Atp 500

Against Isner in Indian Wells, but Isner served great in that match

Against Nadal in Monte Carlo, but that was after grandfather's death and Rafa is strongest in Monte Carlo

Against Tipsarevic in Madrid on blue clay, possible tank job.

In Rome SF Djokovic destroyed Federer and appeared to be ready to fight vs clay God, but then finals was played on Monday because of rain, a few bad judges decisions, double fault on match point and all this coincided with Nadal's great plays.

After that Djokovic struggled in RG with Seppi and Tsonga and lost the finals against Nadal.

Djokovic looks to be recovered from all heavy defeats with great end of season, I hope he will win Roland Garros next year.

Djokovic won't be winning Roland Garros next year, not with Nadal in surprisingly good form.

Didn't you just say a couple of days ago that you did not think Nadal would end 2013 in the top ten and you thought he would drop to top 20??

Final in Rome already indicated that what will be result in Roland Garros final.

Btw before beating Federer in straights, Djokovic almost lost to Tsonga.

Nadal got great confidence after finals in Rome, as he himself said.

That was before I saw Nadal practicing.

What did he do that made you change your mind? There was nothing spectacular in any of those practice videos at all.
Just the fact that he's making an effort to get back into form. Everybody knows that Nadal is a danger on every surface when he isn't injured. Nadal has turned it around before, it isn't too late for him to do it again.

I think so, too.

Hilarious. How can you say someone who has not played one single match in nearly 6 months is going to sweep the clay season next year? Especially with Djesus still kicking around on the tour? It's far more likely that Nadal never wins another thing than it is he will do the clay sweep next year.

Simple. Because no one on any surface has even remotely come close to Nadal's dominance on Clay. Ever.

Disagree with the OP. When Djoker decided to continue playing MC and face Nadal in the final despite his personal tragedy, that was when he ceded whatever mental edge he had gained over him in the past year. It was like an open invitation for Ralph to destroy the man who was already down and probably didn't want to be there playing. This definitely gave Nadal the belief to beat him later and perhaps put a little bit of doubt in Djoker's head the next time they faced each other.
Contrast this with Ralph who smartly avoids playing when he thinks 'he is not at his best' rather than accumulate losses or cede the mental edge he has over players.

This isn't true. If it were, why did Nadal line up in 2011 for beatings nr.4,5,6 against Djokovic after the serb beat him 3 consecutive times in finals? Or nr.7 in AO 2012?

Why didn't Nadal avoid Soderling at RG after losing in 2009 to him? He beat him 2 times there after, the very next year in the final and in 2011 QF.

Blake,Berdych circa 2006, Soderling at one point, Djokovic 2011 and beyond, all had the mental drop on Nadal yet Nadal never shied away from taking the battle to them, if his health allowed him to.
For example, do you think Nadal avoids Davydenko, who has a positive h2h with him?

I never said Nadal shies away from facing opponents who are likely to beat him or have a mental edge over him. In 2011, Nadal was in perfect health and there was nothing bothering him, he was simply being outplayed. So why would he shy away from facing Djokovic ? All I said is if he thinks he cannot win because of something bothering him physically or otherwise, he simply won't play most of the time.

I have to agree with this, Nadal has suffered very heavy losses against Djokovic, and especially in AO 2012, but he managed to win it three times in a row after all that.
