Lots of theories, among them the origin of human race written on the cuceiform tablets.
Many incredible events and information from the past and stunning discoveries not available through classic media channels.

Do you or did you watch this show?
I kinda like it. A lot!

The reptilian agenda has been inscribed into history as we know it. The reality we perceive is but a dimension of the true reality the reptoid race lets us see. We would do well to wake up.

I'm sorry.. but the show is utter nonsense. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you would have to be scientifically illiterate, as are the "experts" on the show, to believe the theories they present. If you look at the academic history of the "experts" on the show, none of them have any background in archeology, history, or any type of degree that requires scientific methodology. In other words, their opinions and theories about the matter should not be taken seriously. They often say something about how "mainstream" experts fail to recognize this or that.. that is not a good argument coming from amateurs with little to no education/field work in the topics they discuss.
There is little to no speculation among actual experts on the matters talked about in the show. Rest assured, the stuff you are taught in history/archeology classes in school is rigorously put through peer review of the best experts in the field before making into the text books. There is no reason to ignore the experts and believe other sources of information simply because you want to believe them.
Just to give you an idea of the lack of credentials of this show; the crazy hair guy has a degree in Sports Information Communications and was a professional body building promoter before doing this show. Some of the other "experts" backgrounds are; law degree in criminology, journalist, paranormal book writers, and simply a "world traveler".

I love it when they interview established professors in the sciences about a perfectly credible proposition (say asteroids were responsible for mass extinctions) and then immediately follow it up with a guy claiming that the asteroids were dispatched by aliens. It is that kind of clever editing that makes me very suspicious of these characters. A nutcase who actually believes in aliens will not do this. Same with the creationists - their arguments cleverly quote scientific sources (such-and-such a research article said "more work needs to be done") and immediately claim that their theory is proven. It shows brilliant political minds at work, not religious or naive people.

That's why they carefully speak of "theories" only.
It doesnt hurt to open its mind and hear and feel something different.
Like the nobel prize a few years ago who admitted he made his discovery about genetics and dna mutations after seeing and living it on a lsd trip.

I remember being in about fourth or fifth grade when the pseudo-scientific book, Chariots of the Gods came out.

Curious again, for some reason, perhaps my Christianity, I dug back into that stuff, and was fortunate enough through the university library system to run into a great book on pseudo-scientific theories, of various sorts, which have been popping around. . . chiefly receiving credence due to mass media pumping out the nonsense side of the story.

There were no ancient aliens, is the gist of it.

One time he got his computers seized because he posted something on his website the day before and the men in black confiscated his equipment from him and threatened him if he mentioned whatever was taken down from his website in public.

Thats what he said on one show. Not sure what they threatened him with, perhaps a comb or whether it was actually Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones. He is a ameture ufologist, but I like him he is enthusiastic and knows a lot about the ancient astronaut theory stuff.

Every explanation we have of the world around us is a "theory". Theory of gravity, theory of plate tectonics, theory of surface tension, theory of crystalline structures ect... The word theory used in pop culture makes it seem like there are many equally plausible explanations. Sometimes there are, but most of the time, when you read about any established modern scientific theory, it is the best explanation for a certain event or phenomena and has yet to be falsified. The ideas on Ancient Aliens, are not actually developed theories, they would be considered more or less a hypothesis.

It's true it doesn't hurt to keep an open mind, in fact, that's how many important discoveries have been made. However, you have to take in consideration when to keep an open mind. In a case like this, where History channel is providing a show for entertainment, and the fact that the "experts" in the show have no background in the stuff they speak about, it should not be taken seriously.

And yes, there have been many scientists that have discovered great things under the influence. However, the difference is, they already had a background in scientific studies, research, and experimentation to expound upon after lighting up. Where-as a normal Joe does not have as much knowledge as the experts in a certain area of study to allow for an enlightening idea in that field. Come back to me when a politician lights up and wins the Nobel Prize for the discovery of missing particles in quantum mechanics ;)

That book was by Von Daniken wasn't it? He has written a whole bunch of books and comes across as a genuinely interested guy. That is the problem - one genuine guy will soon be joined by a hundred fakes.

I remember reading those books in my early teens. They were the rage here back then. But all I can recall is stuff about lines in Nazca (Yucatan) etc. Was he a serious person or just another nutjob proposing outlandish theories ?

Those were the days when Atlantis, Bermuda Triangle etc were quite hot topics.

Some eps are crap but I Liked the ep on pyramids in which they say they are advanced construction no one can really interpret and which were constructed around some 3000 BC, definitely dont think the ones built them were aliens but the people of that time are more advanced most likely the religious ones who cared much about astronomy and as well as perfect geometry.

They never present the debunking of their claims. Whatever they point out has a simple alternate explanation (which they sometimes allude to), but they never present the arguments which address their claims, point by point, and nullify them.

Basically they say that aliens gave them the technology to build pyramids, machu pichu etc
Interesting stuff also on judaism and exodus survival with the mana machine

Watch this video on just how nasty someone who is intent on making a point can change the meaning of a comment with sneaky editing. This was a big case in Australia earlier this year (the main bit about sneaky editing of cut-away shots etc starts from about 6.30 - but the whole video is really interesting insight into what goes on every day in the news)

^ No, I mean, it shows that the technology used were ones that were known to be available at that time and didn't require more sophisticated technology that could've been introduced by aliens. It also debunks such ideas as those certain figurines being airplanes as actually being different types of animals & those pictures purporting to be spaceship, ancient astronauts & etc. were also debunked.

Here's a link where someone provides some debunking of some of their ideas - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9w-i5oZqaQ

Thanks a lot. I started watching it. From the clips where they show scientists (implying that they agree with them, while in reality they are talking about something else), I understood that the whole show was based on deliberate deception and money-making motives, not on some naive convictions. Now, this video shows how they actually tell lies and hide evidence which disproves their theories, and how contemptuously they treat established science and archaeology. I am ashamed that the channels air this show, but it probably caters to the human need for believing in something supernatural, so it is not surprising.

i like the show. definitely a lot of stuff in this world that we don't have anything close to the answers for. but the show has its own agenda and truth is not very high on that list. but it's still fascinating.

what's funny is that the link to the video "ancient aliens debunked" is created by an ultra conservative christian with his own agenda. chris white

as with everything - the ultimate truth is likely somewhere in between. with a lot of the stuff in ancient aliens being complete crap and a lot of the stuff being pretty darn credible or possible.

Well, the earth is not flat as believed nor does the sun revolve around it, so yes not everything is in-between. Many things are just plain false. The "middle-ground" is not the truthful position, though it does make someone appear mature and popular.

If you use the planisphere model , earth can be taken to be flat ..Also in the geocentric model we can imagine sun to revolve around the earth not a problem as it all relative..for earth based observation geocentric model is great

Well, that was not how it was originally thought of, so no point obfuscating the issue. It is like claiming that a marathon runner did not run at all because he would be still in the reference frame of a runner running at the same speed beside him, or claiming that you always move when you are sleeping because the earth is moving. Just not relevant to the discussion.

My point is that many things are a bunch of bull, and there is really no middle ground.

No. The book on pseudoscience that I read pointed out that despite his cool name, he was a nutter, and the "many books" he wrote were basically rewrites. Even at the time of his popularity, genuine scientists were outraged at his zany takes on things.

I can't recall the title of the book I read; I was getting curious at that time about Atlantis and the legend of Atlantis.

Yes the debunk video I was watching seems to indicate that he was not all that respectable. Perhaps he comes across as an eccentric European scientist and that is part of his aura.

To be frank, my father used to read a lot of his books when I was a kid and and that is how I came across his name. My father believed quite a bit of what he said. This was the pre-Internet age, so there was no way to get other viewpoints.

Sureshs is clearly racist against elderly aliens. Despicable.

Yeah I wonder why none of this supernatural stuff ever happens after you start questioning it. Like the ghosts which roamed railway tracks in the night stopped coming after the areas got lighted, and the great miracles of the past never seem to be repeatable now, when they can be scrutinized more thoroughly.

history showing repeats .. btw this is Borobudur buddhist temple they are talking about in 1 episode , why is not in 7 wonders ? it looks beautiful !!! no man of today can construct this

This is just a segment of top view :

No man today can construct these monuments because they were generally built by kings spending people's tax money like water, using what was practically slave labor, and taking decades to build something. The main purpose was to impress upon the people the divine connection between the king and the great powers above and give him the right to rule.

Trust you to bring the conversation tumbling to the ground you're such a killjoy.
If he had not spent the tax money (do they even have money in ancient Buddhist culture, let alone taxes?) there would be nothing to show today to represent their culture, I'm sure they were proud to make that monument you nasty little killjoy.

Don't know about taxes, but something like that always existed. They were called "tributes" or whatever.

I have always had a problem with ancient monuments. There are exceptions, but they were often erected to show off a King's superiority, to provide employment to poor people (basically taking the money from others), to ensure a legacy for the King etc. Similar trends continue today in the naming of places and buildings after politicians, something I deeply dislike.

I am always focused on how people really live, not on symbolic stuff which looks great once the people who suffered are long gone.

I love monuments like that, I find it amazing what humans can accomplish with just a few basic tools and geometry. knowledge of mathematics and astrology back then was higher then anyone would ever expect without such monuments being in existence.

People had real communities, security and safety back then and were exploited but not to the level you're talking or there would have been a uprising.

You sound like a socialist and I can't take them seriously.

You think there were no uprisings? There was probably one every week. Security? Wars ranged for hundreds of years. Travel was unsafe. Medicine was practically non-existent. Anybody could be declared fit to be killed by a king or official, or jailed.

No need to take me seriously. Just focus on history.

Don't look at things with rose-colored glasses. There was no golden period. The golden period is today. We live in the most peaceful and best of times.

The longing for an utopian past is natural. It is reinforced by popular myth. It was always the same.

I agree that sense of community was more, but only because communities were small and travel was difficult. Community was also forcibly enforced. If you neighbor wore some symbol, you also better wear it or you would be driven from the village.

I didn't say it was utopian. Talking about Buddhists in this case they are not violent, they lived in peace and at one with nature. You can't make sweeping statements about a whole period in time because around the globe were very different cultures developing at differing rates.

I'm not romanticising the culture I'm just appreciating the magnificent feat of engineering. Why don't you see it in the same way as modern structures like the Eiffel Tower?
