Okay, so I have the Djoker symbol on the outside doors of my home, and I never took them off when he went off the rails. I can smile again.

Djokovic into his 8th USO final, surpassIng Fed with 7 and equalling lengends such as Sampras and Lendl, both with 8.

Delpo, good luck to you, as you'll have your hands full on Sunday.

That's different from saying he started his run of dominance there.

Might as well say it started at the 2008 AO, which was a much stronger tourney from him. 2010 was a good tournament but he got a lot of help from Federer in that match...I believe that out of nearly 400 matches Fed has contested at the grand slam level, there are only about 15 where his first serve percentage was lower.

Djokovic also played a pretty average finals. Not abhorrently bad, but certainly not above his base level from those years.
the 2010 and 11 USO semis between Federer and djokovic were nearly identical scorelines.

Djokovic's 'renaissance' started in the summer of 2010.

idk what you all are arguing, that 2011 just came out of nowhere???

Congrats to Novak on reaching a record equalling 8th US Open final(same amount as Sampras and Lendl). Who would've thought heading into Wimbledon that he'd end up being the player with the best season in the majors?!

REVENGE!!!!!!!(always better cold ha ha)
Just kidding. Nishi is not the player he used to be and Novak was really under the weather for that freak USO loss. Today’s match was always gonna be very different.
And another USO final for Novak. His 7th or 8th? I just wish he had won more of them :D

Except it didn't.

No big titles the rest of 2010, not even during the fall season which he has historically dominated.

I know many Nadal fans try to sell this conjure up the idea that Nadal beat a peak Djokovic in the 2010 USO final. He didn't.

yes he got his mojo back during the clay Court season and then when he made it to the finals in Queens you knew he was back and then you knew he was totally back when he beat Nadal in that epic semi final in Wimbledon

This is a crazy sport. From getting surgery in February to being the only man this year to make 2 GS finals. Lol. You just can't predict it.
Yeah if you told me after Rafa won RG that Novak would have more slam finals than Rafa AND Roger then I’d say you’re insane and tripping on some heavy stuff. :D

i didn't or ever said it was peak Djoko.

as a matter of fact, i believe i said it was Nole 1.9 vs Nole 2.0 of 2011 (which many threads will show from that time).

but don't try and act like he wasn't playing well at 2010 USO!

either way, Nadal beat Djokovic in 2013 at the USO, or are you going to say Djokovic wasn't ATG caliber then either

Not completely out of nowhere, naturally there are matches that both buoyed his spirits and gave him confidence. Perhaps the 2010 US Open semi was one of them.

However, his actual form there was in-line with what you'd expect from him in those years, and his fall season was also fairly nondescript. DC was as galvanizing as the USO, probably more so, and then he ditched gluten in the off season. So to matter-of-factly call the 2010 US Open the start of his dominance is specious.
