When Djokovic does NOT win FO he wins the other 3 slams. Remember what happened in 2016 after F.O win. And what happened in 2018 without F.O.

To me, there is no doubt, that unless something drastic happens, Novak is winning Wimbledon and UsOpen. He's just better than everyone else.
IT took the crappiest conditions, and a peak Thiem to stop Novak on the Serb's worst surface. And even then the match went to 5 sets and Novak almost won.
Djokovic had a clown draw. Thiem was the first actual legit opponent that he faced. And he lost. And Thiem likewise had to deal with bad conditions otherwise he'd have been even tougher for Novak to handle. Especially looking at the score stats and realizing how many tense situations Djokovic was forced in and having to fend off numerous breakpoints.
Plus, Wawrinka is back in form. Tsitsipas and Thiem are hungry for Slams, and several other young guys are making in roads. I don't know where I stand on Zverev just yet but I think we might see him finally get it together by the autumn hardcourts.

You always seem to make cameo appearances when Nadal or Djokovic make a slam final lol. Who do u like?
You realize that every sport's popularity depends on superstars, right? Sort of like a big boxing match featuring the best in the world. Do you think I'd care about seeing Jan Lennard Struff vs Santiago Ventura if they were playing in tomorrow's final? LOL
This is historical. Nadal going for an 18th. Thiem going for his first. It's exciting.

Federer could have won 1 or more sets if they played in normal circumstances.
Irrelevant. Fedr has never beaten Rafa at RG in normal circumstances when Fedr was in his prime, why would he do it now?

Nadal vs Federer:

Before the match, Federer admited that the only way he can beat Rafa on clay is if Rafa is ill or injured. In his post match presser Federer said:

“I think he does that to anybody on the clay,” Federer said of being unable to control the match against Nadal. “He makes you feel uncomfortable the way he defends the court and plays on clay.

“There is nobody who even plays remotely close to him. I don’t even know who I need to go search for to go practice with somebody who plays like him. I was thinking that during the match. It’s just amazing how he plays from deep and then is able to bounce back and forth from the baseline.”

Stop living in cloud cuckoo land.

Amen. Which is why the womens final didn't interest me at all. #ThiemRafa :p

Djokovic was asking umpire "Do you know tennis? Have you ever played tennis?"
What an idiotic question was that, why he was so upset on umpire. Is that frustration caused him in the last couple of games?
I, on the contrary, thought he looked very determined, 'evil' even after that tantrum, I was expecting him to go and play to kill and, yeah, he then took the set.

I agree. Novak is still the best player in the world. Especially on grass and hard courts. He won’t get screwed by scheduling either. Us open used to be bad for Novak until they got a roof. However, now it’s not a problem anymore. I am confident Novak can rebound and at least win one of the next 2 slams, if not both. I still think he can catch Nadal and Federer as he can keep winning the other 3 slams where he’s the no1 favourite

Mighty buffoon? Ouch.

To answer your question... of course I was aware the conditions were tough -- I mean that is how tennis works. I'm saying that you have to mentally hold it together in spite of external factors in the important moments to win the top titles in the world. Thiem and Djokovic both had major problems in that area today. Contrast that with Federer and Nadal yesterday. Both played in the same conditions (arguably worse conditions) but they both actually held it together mentally, adapted, and put together a pretty decent match.

You need your eyes examined if you think that Djokovic and Thiem were at their mental peak in the important moments in this match. They were horrible during those moments... and it wasn't always on the side of the court against the wind.

So let's review. Good tennis matches happen when both players hold it together mentally. A poor tennis match happens when one player loses it mentally. The worst tennis matches happen when both players lose it mentally.
Well you responded, but just don't see it the same way. Glad you enjoyed Nadal stomping on Federer more than this match, but not seeing it at all. Thiem in particular returned exceptionally well in the latter stages of the match against a player rolling on serve at RG; that is greatness.;)
