32. Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina

The draw is held at 10:00hrs UK time tomorrow, just under 24 hours from now.

Decided to mix the poll options up for a change rather than just use the top seeds.

Obviously Carlos and Novak stay in the top two slots but…

Medvedev and Tsitsipas have had poor results in the warm up tournaments recently, Ruud would rather play golf, hasn’t bothered to play any grass matches at all and has never managed to win anything above 250 level, while Rublev has played better on grass but he doesn’t have the belief to win a slam, having only just managed one M1000 title in his career.
None of them have had great results at WB.

Fritz and Norrie have both shown they can go deep at WB although Taylor hasn’t impressed so far this year in the warm up tournaments to be fair, but I’ve kept him in the poll anyway.

Frances Tiafoe is in good form, winning Stuttgart on grass and has broken into the top 10 while de Minaur and Bublik have been impressive on grass only a few days ago with de Minaur in the Queen’s final and Bublik winning Halle.

Hand the trophy to Novak and move on already.
This might be the least exciting slam because of how pathetic next gen is on grass, and Fed/Nadal are not playing. There are no grass court specialists anymore and Novak is the lone wolf in the lame field.

UsOpen might be a little more competitive, so looking forward to watching it live in NYC.

Djokovic might have an off day, at his age it does happen. In that case I suppose he might lose. But most people are so little used to grass, I'm not sure that they can take advantage.

Alcaraz is hardly a grass titan yet, but given the field he could well make the final given how good his overall game is

If he gets upset, we might get an interesting tournament. If not, it‘s likely it will end up an underwhelming flop like like last year.

I think the only legit question this year is, will he win it without dropping a set?

Tennis channel commentator saying Wimbledon will mix in ~10 % artificial grass into the natural grass to make it longer lasting during the tournament and not turn into clay dirt on the baseline... Sounds like Great idea but then will that work ??

It makes the court slower too. Will this help Djokovic?

Is this actually true? I know there were some tests involving artificial grass so that it could be used in other climates, but I had not heard any suggestion to use it at the tournament itself.

Is there any reliable source confirming this?

The Guardian reported on the proposal a year ago but I don’t see anything to confirm it has been done yet. There is no mention of it on the official WB website in their article about the type of grass used.

Fery to face Medvedev in the 1st round. Go Arthur. He's no good on grass so this is a real opporrtunity to upset the seeded player in the 1st round

do you think meddy will lose again in first round two slams in a row, he should be fast and furious to be able to take fery out in tyson fury' style, lets hope he wont screw it up

I'm not backing Ruud to go far, but he couldn't have picked a more ideal first 3 rounds given he's played no warm-up events. If he can't do it with this draw, he needs to play 2 warm-up events next year if he wants to make the 2nd week.

Geek-time! I marked:
- the players who reached last year's quarters. (green)
- the recent winners & runner-ups for the previous four grass tournaments (yellow&brown)
- the current semi-finalists of Eastbourne and Mallorca. (blue)

I didn't realise that there's another guy called Cerundolo - Sinner's first round opponent - I was already wondering how they could meet in the first round.
So that blue dot actually goes to position 41. F. Cerundolo.

Looks rough for Carl. Although some of those guys have been a bit out of form so maybe the first rounds will go a little easier than expected.

No clue what to expect from Chardy but he could be tricky. Rinderknech is a tricky one but he hasn't been in great form this year. More expecting Jarry to make round 3, that could be a little bit of trouble.

Zed in R4 is gonna be the danger spot for sure.

Djokovic hasn't had a day off where it cost him the victory since in 2018 (counting slams), so no - that is not gonna happen

Brutal start for Tsitsi and Thiem. Whoever wins will be warmed up for Murray next round. :)
I mean currently Tsitsipas isn‘t playing at his best but Thiem is in a very low low - he‘s not even having much success at challengers lately. I‘d be surprised if this is somewhat close but lets see.

Yeah, funny how he can be so mentally focused when he needs to be...

Honestly, they need to make a rule against one-handed backhand players meeting one another in the first round. I mean, there are so few beautiful players left in the top 100, it's a shame to have one of them taken out right off the bat.

just mixing in 10 % ONLY, no more, just so that it doesn't die and become clay court in 2nd week.

I expect all my favorites to lose early and djokovic to win the title maybe dropping one set against an unknown.
Watcha Chuckersthenut - in which case, what will most likely catch your interest at Wimbly this year?

I'm feeling nostalgic at present, reminiscing over some great matches I've seen live at Wimbly over the years, including the privilege of watching the Maestros Federer / Nadal / Djokovic play on centre court. However, I'm looking forward to the twists and turns of the tournament this year, as some of the wonderfully talented youngsters and underdogs try to make their presence felt and jostle for position.

Reality will triumph over wishful thinking of course, but there is such magic in following a favourite's progress, even if it is against the odds. I'm looking forward to it in the hope that there will be plenty of magic as the tournament unfolds.

Lady Luck will soon dance to Destiny's tune, leading some to glory and others to disappointment. Perhaps the expected outcome will arise, but then again, perhaps it won't.

....Honestly, they need to make a rule against one-handed backhand players meeting one another in the first round. I mean, there are so few beautiful players left in the top 100, it's a shame to have one of them taken out right off the bat.
I'll second that rule.
