All these tedious "pusher" threads

Ok so there are only 3 on the first page right now but the repetitive stream is endless.

The general theme seems to be some guy who thinks he has good form, strokes, movement and balance get beaten by some guy who he thinks has poor form, incomplete strokes and looks awkward. So what is going on here? I reckon it is pretty simple:

1. Getting to a point where you are consistant playing with good form is tough. There is a lot involved in hitting a forehand with good form and so an awful lot which can go wrong. Therefore, at lower levels, players with some natural ability and improvised, but simple, incomplete strokes will often be loads more consistant than supposed 'correct form' players. And at most levels of tennis consistancy wins every time.

2. Just because a player does not have pretty strokes does not mean he does not have natural ability - and often a hell of a lot more than many coached players with pretty strokes have. They quite often also have lots of ball hitting experience from other sports. To take an extreme I know players who have played badminton and squash at national level when much younger and now play tennis for fun. They are uncoached at tennis and look far from conventional but take them for granted at your peril. One has the best and fastest backhand I have ever seen outside of pro-tennis and the other the best overheads, net movement and volleys. These are skills which are based on exceptional ability from other sports.
