Anybody still using a "Classic" racket (1990s and earlier) as their main racket?

Should I even waste my time trying to talk you outta that NOS MAX200G? Will trade for food as well...
All set for food. Even when every kid and grandkid arrives before work to raid the fridge. Daily Now know why my wife stopped cooking after Thanksgiving.

How do you like the way it plays!?
Strings prefered in it..? Tension?
The weight takes away any flutter. Great for flat or sliced strokes. Weight makes it easy to serve. Tight string pattern kinda limits topspin. Learned to string much more loosely, 48-50#. Fun hit but not worthy..

I've got one...need to get my Fischers out and take a look.
That version of Fischer Stan Smith Superform Mid was a graphite-fiberglass composite, with a touch of titanium in the mix. This model was also used by Anders Jarryd, Jonas B.Svensson, and Jo Durie on tour around 1984-1985.

Never saw anyone using a Fischer back in the 70s or 80s. Thought it was a cool pic.
I tied for first place in a "fast serve" contest using the original SuperForm. Sad news for the sponsor of the event...Yamaha ;)
Three of us tied... a local teaching pro with a T3000, me with the SuperForm and a fellow one year out of playing for a highly ranked D1 university(while wearing dress shoes, suit pants with vest/tie AND hitting our wood Jack Kramer auto strung with tournament nylon!!!).

Was in a fast serve contest in the early eighties. Winner used a T-2000, served over 100 mph. He then hit a forehand 95 mph. Racquet head speed trumped graphite.

I just back into tennis this fall after more than 30 years. I'm using my old Prince Spectrum 110s, a POG OS, and I just picked up a couple of Borons of that auction site and had them redone.

I've demoed a Babolat Aero, a Yonex, and a Prince phantom and prefer my Spectrums.

The original Spectrum was a different animal, for sure. Seemed a fair number of folks gave them a serious try; but a year later, not so much. It was solid in a "made of plaster" sort of way to me; but not particularly lively. The 'lookalike' Tri Comp was completely different and enjoyed a bit of a run; but also didn't hang on(in our area...Atlanta).

So when did the CTS series/Graduate get released?

was there ever one lol? I'm no expert on these things. All I can say is it feels pretty sweet when you nail the center of the strings, and pretty awful anywhere else. Last time I tried swinging it I put it down after 5 minutes, but I'm wanting to give it another go.
Are the strings as old as the racquet? If they are avoid volleying.

No head guard on any of those that I ever saw(or have now). Sure wouldn't hurt to throw on some head tape ;)
Yep, That original Superform dates from around 1979-1981, and Fischer’s first plastic bumper guards appeared on some of its models for 1987. The first Head and Wilson frames with bumper guards appeared in 1984; by 1987 almost all “pro shop” racquets had a replaceable bumper guard.

around 1990, Fischer engineers thought they might leverage some of their ski technology into a bumper guard solution, which inlaid a non-replaceable layer of Vestoran (a slippery synthetic material used for ski bases) slong the edge of racquet heads of the first-gen Twin Tec models, and some selected Elliptic models. They quickly stopped making the Elliptic with that, using a more orthodox replaceable plastic grommet piece. The Twin Tecs, which were fully grommet-less and also had a Vestoran core throughout, continued with it until the models were discontinued around 1992. They were great racquets, but must have been tricky and expensive to produce.

It should also be said that the original Head Graphite Edge and Graphite Director (circa 1980-1981) had nylon plastic edge strips molded into the frame, underneath the paint.
