Australian Open boss Craig Tiley has instilled renewed hope that Rafael Nadal will play in the Melbourne grand slam event.

“I’m confident Rafa will be here,” Tiley said.
“I haven’t spoken directly to Rafa – I sent him a note – but I’ve spoken to his team and he’s disappointed that he came back from an exhibition in Abu Dhabi and tested positive. “When was that? December 17 or 18? So, 10 days (until he is due to fly to Australia). He’s still got two weeks before the event.”

Hopefully he plays and I think if his foot is fine he shouldn't worry about Covid recovery, he will be fine in a month

''I sent him a note.'' Old school. (y) Going with the personal touch that your average tiktok sms can't bring.

Does anyone know if Rafa had his third shot, or just two? Could make a pretty big difference as to how fast and full his recovery is, especially if he has Omicron.

I don't think Omicron cares; so, Rafa's antibodies that may have been compromised by previous vaccines are the key to his recovery.

The more I read about this guy, the more I sense that he's just a desperate clown. First, he talks about some of the strictest vaccination policies and that Novak would've to inoculate to play, and now he goes on saying that players such as Rafa that get COVID for Christmas can play. Of course, the vaccine diplomacy is at the forefront here.

Oh man we're going to have Tiley getting his name in the tennis media everyday to promote the upcoming slam. What a snooze.

“If Novak shows up at the Australian Open, he’ll either be vaccinated or he’ll have a medical exemption,” Tiley said. “[It’s] his choice on his medical condition, it’s his choice to keep personal and private like all of us would do with any condition we may or may not have. We are not going to force him or ask him to disclose that.”

So now Rafa got the virus and will play Nole's pet slam. Will he get to the F and be bageled by Nole as the reverse of 2020 FO?

And this is happening because the clowns have taken over from the scientists.
He could be Boris Johnson's long lost brother....

"During the coronavirus Coag press conference, the Australian prime minister, Scott Morrison, is asked whether it was responsible to attend an NRL game on the weekend in light of the state and federal governments agreeing to cancel gatherings of more than 500 people across Australia. 'The fact that I would still be going on Saturday speaks not just to my passion for my beloved Sharks; it might be the last game I get to go to for a long time,' he said"
