Hello all,

I am glad to be able to contact you through this great forum.

I have been playing the PA19 for a year now and am basically very satisfied. It fits my baseline game very well. I need the high launch angle and the massive spin.

The downside is unfortunately the lack of control due to the trampoline effect and the lots of power, which is why I looked for another racquet and tried the PAVS2020 for a while: Basically, I played safer tennis with it, but it just didn't appeal to me in terms of playing style. The launch angle was much lower, the crisp feel was missing, the spin wasn't even comparable, and I was becoming more of a defensive player. I ended up having a bit of arm pain with the PAVS2020 as well.

Now I'm still looking for a racquet like the PA19 (high launch angle, massive spin and crisp feel) but with more control. Does anyone here have the same experience and possibly tips? I would definitely be very happy to hear. Especially the Yonex VCore 100 2021 I am considering.

P.S.: I already play with the Heady Lynx Tour or RPM Blast over 25 pounds.

I fear that my experience with the 98 will be in the same as with the PAVS2020. The new or even older VCore 100 have the same power as the PA19?

1. the launch angle is not low
2. still crisp, it's 66 RA
3. the spin is not as good as the vcore100 or aero, but let's rate those two a 10/10. the vcore98 is an 8/10, still quite good. only the aero/vcore98/extremeMP and maybe a couple of other sticks will be a 10/10 for spin and have that level of power. you can still get tons of spin with the vc98. you'll also have the ability to flatten out a ball, a bit, but not much more. it's still quite open.
4. try poly at around 48-50 lbs to get a ton of pop. if you have a swing that can manage a PA19, it should work fine for the vcore at low tension.

the vc98 is not for me anymore. I prefer the ezone98.
I'll be listing my g3 vcore98 soon.
I just think based on what you described, it's a natural progression for you to try it, in your next round of demos.

if you don't want to go a step back in power and ahead in control.... and would rather take a small half step in either direction:
the extreme MP, could be worth a demo too. 54/53 lbs, start there.
lots more pocketing, more comfy for sure, needs a little weight in the handle to get the balance right.

´I'm really not sure if the VC 98 would be suitable. I really need the high spin, otherwise I'm missing something. And the PAVS 2020 was already not enough. But I guess I'll have to find out, so once again, thank you.

Racquet doesn't generate the high levels of spin, your stroke technique does.

Stock og works fine for me, thin leather too stiff/harsh...if you use thicker, softer kind (TW 1.5 mm for example), that adds a lot of weight.

I do re-wrap it though - double loop to start for more buttcap flare and I pull it hard for just a bit firmer than stock feel

I didn’t mess with the original grip. Wrapped an overgrip and that’s all.

Switched to PA2019 for about half a year, but hit a rough patch with my forehand during the summer and wanted to go back to more controlled setup, so was again working in PT2.0/DR98 with less western grip...but actually ended up going with RF97.

I didn't like dealing with natural gut previously, but now found a 17g full poly setup for RF97 that works, so that's where I'm at.

I recently hit with my wife's racket (2023 PA) and compared it to my 2019 PAs. Definitely a better all-around racket than the 2019. You still get all the best of the pure aero, but can also flatten the ball out. I come from 18x20s and that's the area I've been most disappointed in the PA coming from more control-oriented rackets. Obviously not what it's made for, but the 2023 PA a great compromise
