Strung the VCore 100 with Pacific Polygut, gut in the mains, Feels nice and plush and solid. Today Ill play with it again. Im trying to figure out its weight and swingweight, sometimes it feels ok, others too light.

I am interested in the Tecnifibre VO2 Max 320 but will stick with the Yonex for now. Just curious how they compare. Hope somebody that uses the 320 demos the VCore 100 and gives his impression.

That's not very long per racquet. Surely you played with something for years while you were "growing up" no? I developed racquetaholism rather late, but i used a PS 95 for a good 10+ years.

Oh yeah, I thought this was recent experimentation.

I probably had the Dunlop 200 more like a year. So I would say that's a decent time.

Growing up - Prince Pro 110 for 7 years.

Hi Meagnan, I just switched from BC20 to PB10 mid a month ago. Not sure how different it is from dnx10 mid, but I'm pretty sure you will enjoy the extra control, better serve, volley and slice over BC20.While I'm having much fun with PB10 mid, I'm still keeping the BC20 though, as they are less demanding and really amazing rackets. They are just too good to be sold away. Enjoy your new toy! :)

The PB10 Mid is probably the best volleying frame I ever used. Truly a scalpel, as Granville would say.

Yeah I've kept bc20 too its a great stick esp with mods and extension. Its not unlike the dnx10 mid just the volkl feels better at the net. It certainly cuts thro the air like nothing else I've hit. I've added about 7g top of hoop to stop my fh busting thro ether into some parallel kournakovian utopia!

I'm rather excited that my pb10 is on its way :)

Anyway, I'd like to ride this EXO out and just get better at tennis. The one thing that I really hate about switching a lot is it hampers your game while growing into a stick makes you better. The trick is it has to be the right stick or you are spinning your wheels.

I played with the Blade 98 for a good while and actually did pretty well with it -- I could absolutely murder serves with it, and was pretty good with it from the baseline, but that frame just died at net. No stability.

Happy to report that after five days full of ice and advil and tennis channel, I hit a little today with the groin wrapped up and all feels fine. Didn't totally push it, but happy that it seems I'm on the down side of the recovery hill.

Safins low net clearance

www.youtube.com/watch?v=WReGiDn9tU8&feature=relmfu

Picking up from another thread, a nice comp vid of the great Safin (1 of my faves ever for sure) - and what I find noteworthy is just how close to the net his groundies are (from 45 sec-120, 150-215, 230-300.)

As I said in the other thread, I certainly float over great spin-laden moonballs in comparison! :) Nice to see Marat just leisurely doing his thing. Though shame there's no racket-smashing tantrum included.

Well boys, problems, major dilemmas......picked up a yonex in a deal a bit ago and as I've had some problems picking up yonex mid after the sensational pro stock pim pim I thought I'd strung it up and give it a whirl. Its got kevlar in it, its a thin throat, thicker above the handle like the ISIS handle of the revelations, thin tip, but a great big walloping mid hoop beam width of about 3 cm, really ugly in an otherwise lovely frame!

Anyways played it today, tour bite @ 52lbs, I just crushed the ball, the pop and control I was getting was amazing, very easy to use, huge bomb serves and great volleys. Tbh I'm thinking its thick mid beam was acting like an apd, for instance, and just clubbing the ball with the 92" open pattern being very spin friendly.

Its the rq260 and she's like steffi, beautiful with a big nose!

Yeah his 2hbh is really worth studying. I have been working on that compact, hands close to body style of hitting, and it really helped me out a lot. Especially on returns. I used to get killed returning off that side, and now I am able to hit winners off of it.

ROSS I'm told it was strung fairly tight , you could hear the tightness of the poly so i'm sure i was being punished for the demo. What i find frustraiting was the people i played against all 6 of them on sat (it was a short set mix in kind of deal afternoon) each said "oh you did all the usual stuff you do but you were much more consistent"60 mins in and i thought my arm could come off though.

Hmm Dave I know what you mean, its utterly unremarkable as a frame. In fact its most remarkable feature is the sheer and complete unremarkableness (Is that even a word?) of it.

The 98 was I assume supposed to be a more playable version of the slightly underpowered but scalple-like KBlade93, but its not, its just not, its nothing, its a vacumn in a sea of emptyness, cut adrift in all the transient, fleeting space where something should be, but there is only a void, meaningless and bereft of any tangability..... er anyway you get the idea there.

BTW, Don't know if you've looked in here much, but your beloved TF320 has been getting a few new fans.

Talking of TFs, you know I hit with 'the mythical' TF SF 315 (you remarked before on how it is rarely if ever seen in the UK)... if only it wasn't so sluggish and the response was more consistent, it actually has a lot of very nice qualities IMO (solidness, oomph, spin, killer serve, sillicone handle, etc.) TF really should tweak and work on this one. It could be so good.

I agree. I will try to stick with the RDIS 100 MP. Its tempting to switch rackets and its easy to be seduced by new technology in new frames, but the time it takes to adjust to a new frame affects timing and technique.

Fellow 'Holics,

I'm presently waiting on pallets for my TGK which I'm still going to be looking at (shall probably still be experimenting with it in ten years time!:).) Not because I want to use it as my no. 1 but I will be playing with my old N95 later this week - really as I want to check out and explore something that has some of the qualities I feel my APD lacks. I have been enquiring about the Organix 8 315, a stick that has really grabbed my attention lately - but so far without much luck here in the UK. Oh, and still holding out against the Exo Tour, though I'm fairly sure I'd definitely like it in just about everything bar maybe serve oomph (and we know the old lead fixes that anyhow).

How we all doing?

Mid update

DONNAY PLATINUM 94
from the moment I popped this skinny fella out of the bag it has been a constant surprise, kinda eats at the back of your mind, saying play me, play me. It does a lot of things really well, I felt comfortable in all areas of the court especially the baseline. There is some surprising power (alu/nrg2), flatter trajectory from the dense pattern, I felt if I was on it I could power through my opponent quite comfortably.
I add lead from 10-2 and this added some much needed stability to the thin hoop. Serving and volleying I struggled with due to this instability. There's a lot of vibration even hitting the sweetspot. Saying that, there is also some real nice feel and flex, not stiff at all.
In the end tho it was competing against my modded rock of a rack, the mg600. So it had to go!

YONEX RDX500 MP
I'm still looking at this racket, It hasn't had a lot of court time. A lot more stable than the donnay (lead @10-2 & handle), very comfortable stick, nice feel but at the moment I'm struggling to get the larger head thro the air and it feels smooth but rather clunky. Surprisingly it felt rather underpowered but with a little weight adjustment I think I can remedy that. Not for me I don't think.

VOLKL DNX10 MID
Excellent stick, all round quality from serve to baseline rallying, volleys superb. I've got no complaints so far and with the pb10 on its way this week it will be interesting to see how they match up. A real contender.

YONEX RQ 260
unlike the volkl which is long and elegant, this is a short, stumpy beast of a racket, no need to time the ball it just clubs straight through it! Serves bombs and has great kick and slice too, volleys are solid although not as manoeuvrable as the volkl it still performs well in this area of the game. Slices really well and is again close to the volkl. Where this racket excels is on groundies, the yonex explodes from the baseline and although very spinny when needed, this racket is compact and crushes the ball. This racket also excels in getting you out of trouble.

MG600
this stick although I haven't used it in a few weeks is still leading the way. Once I adjusted the lead in the hoop the extra pop I was looking for was there and this combined with the control means that this racket is just the daddy!

So there it is, still some testing to do between the head, volkl and yonex mids, its all very close, what's important is that they are all super stable and have slight benefits over each other in certain departments, its whether super control or super manoeuvrability or super solidity wins out. I honestly don't know yet but I can easily switch between sticks for my up coming matches.

The YT speed 16X19 could star in a remake of that 70's classic Deep Throat because it sucks so hard.

Seriously, not a good stick; not a tweener but no lush players stick either. I hated it.

Yesterday I played with a pretty consistent hitting partner. I noticed that against hard shots my RDIS 100 MP seems a bit sluggish or slow. My hitting technique does not allow me to use a racket that I cant move fast. I switched to the APD GT and was able to create fast racket speed with less effort. I used it with Technifibre XR1 which softened the stringbed.

Bori,

Yep, ability to move the frame mega-quick is def 1 of my priority areas. This was an issue on the TF SF 315 I was checking out a few weeks ago. Also, the N95, which I'm revisiting, gets to the ball so quickly. It certainly isn't light, but probably on account of the h/light balance, it almost gets to the ball before you've had the thought to go for it. Then add the fact this thing hits a huge ball, has good spin, decent feel, and is tank solid - I'm in goaty territory here I reckon.

PED,

Haha, wow, if the YT Speed 16X19 is such a rival to 'Deep Throat' as to which sucks the best, I think i'll be steering clear.:)

Meags,

What with that list of 'runners and riders' I think we should all make bets on this - LOL! My money would be on... hmm... the DNX10 mid I think. Good to see your keeping busy on the RHolic front!

Ross to answer your question, still firmly on board with the EXO. I have had no issues with serve power, and have been incredibly impressed with the amount of spin I can put on the ball, which I need on my serve anyway. The racquet is pretty deep in terms of what it can do the more time you spend with it. I can't explain it, but if you just play loose you can hit with incredible pace.

Meghan, if the Platinum is vibrating a lot, pull the buttcap out and see if it still is. The problem with the interchangeable buttcap system is that if it is at all loose, the entire frame vibrates. The solution is to add some electrical tape inside the buttcap area before sliding the buttcap back in.

Pp....it was the hoop that was vibrating, not hugely or uncomfortably just in a way that semi suggested flexy feel, tho I think it was mainly down to the thin tip of the hoop.

I know, the hoop vibrates even with the buttcap loose which is why I suggested that. Yes, it is weird..lol. It threw me off bigtime. Try it and see if it helps.

Actually ross you may be right but I've been thinking about the pros and cons of these rackets for a short time now, especially whilst showering of a morning!
If all being equal (ie similar feel/stability etc) the volkl is a versatile stick, its grace and easy flowing nature allow you to express yourself and as an all court kinda guy, I like that. The problem lies in the fact that I am not Federer and although I consistently hit good shots, with a stick like this it gets into your head, oooh little drop shot here, dinky cutesy clever shot there and this gets me into trouble.
I win points, games and matches by playing my game, big serve, very aggressive, powerful ground strokes, forcing errors, getting stuff back, if I stick to the plan I can look pretty decent, if I start getting cute my game goes in and out and start trying too hard......so is a beautifully versatile stick for me?

Or , like the last couple of outings with the yonex do I play a stick that's a little more one dimensional (in a multi dimensional kind a way but not as multi dimensional as the volkl!). Theres no messing with this stick, it wants you to hit thro the ball, it has no problems creating angles with acute spin but in general it likes to just keep deep and to the corners, which in the scheme of things will win you most matches. It likes you to keep it simple, something I keep telling myself. I can play my all court game, s & v, chip and charging, baseline rallying, mixing it up, but for some reason I don't try to be too clever. My problem lies in the fact that its an ugly brute and I see myself much more in terms of artistic flaneur. Maybe its that opposites attract or maybe I do have to try the rdx500 mid/rds001 although it will have to be the all yellow one!?

Lastly, the mg600 (leaded up its the closest thing to my beloved feeling pt600), its control suits my game, its versatile but not in a cut thro the air like a magician kinda way the volkl is, its not clunky or beefed up brute, but get the weighting right and you have all the power you need. It does feel much smaller headed and this makes me keep it simple, its somewhere in between. Its the racket I chose (prob unrealistically) for myself when I started playing a few years ago, we have history!

So yes a racket must match your own personality but I have to think of my biggest asset and that's my serve and work on everything else and as these sticks are so close in all departments that shouldn't prove too difficult.

At the moment on serve out of 10 the yonex is a 9.3, the head 8.9 and the volkl 8.8......maybe I should do the tw rating list and see what happens :)
