Federer’s AO draw till SF is weaker than Basel

Fed is looking good - he just drops off for while and then bounces back - against the top 2 he can’t do that...

So if he can maintain his levels throughout the match - he will be very hard to beat....

Djole can defeat the forces of evil. 5 hour 5 set epic. With Nadal waiting in the final of course.

Agree, Federer has a cakewalk. Djokovic too. It kinda reminds of USO 2018 when all the strong players are in Nadal's draw.

Also, Federer is well rested while Nadal is physically and mentally dead after overplaying before this tournament.

The Nadal does not get tired. Only injured, no?

Fed and Nadal both prepped like madmen for this tournament. Fed practiced and trained his body, whereas Nadal played and sharpened his mental game/strategy.

We will see which approach works best.

If ATP/and ITF actually wanted to favour Federer they wouldn't have slowed down the surfaces to favour his main opponents. Fail better.

They wanted to favour Federer, but saw that people don't like serve festivals, but want some rallies too, so they slowed fckn surfaces... Even Wimbledon saw what people really want...

Novak didn’t look overly impressive at the ATP tournament - had his issues at times...

From what I have seen - RF is looking very strong... of course time will tell but it should be a good match none the less...

If RF wins the Aus open he would of had the toughest road to victory because you can expect a epic 5 set match in the semis and Nadal won’t be anything like a walkover so he would need to win the slam with 10 sets in 2 days and 7 hours - Nadal May have the fresher legs for the final - which is why RF is looking to have fast easy matches and hope Novak and Nadal have a few longer matches towards the end...

You will probably find RF going balls to wall when he meets Nadal and Novak or he will lose due to fitness...

It’s gonna be all or nothing I suspect...

So for Fed to win the Aus open he would have to beat 1 & 2 - geez that’s an easy draw considering between the 2 of them they won just about everything last year and year before...

You are not aware that in any case it is no1 and 2 to beat for Federer, no matter what is the draw? One in sf and another in f... Its destiny of 3rd seeded player, and Federer is no3...

There should be some test to be done while registering on forum.

“outplayed”

both men won the important points in both matches, their wins were deserved.
I don't think anyone's disputing that. You can win more points than your opponent but lose because they played the big points better.
Is the sport, ¿no?

Question 1: Are you paranoid about court speed and see slow courts everywhere?

Question 2: Do you consider 2017-2020 (more precisely IW 2018-2020) a weak era?

@KINGROGER said Novak should gift Fed a win now because he deserved to win last time and didn’t. that’s what i got from it.

Hmmm did I not just say that? Maybe an English comprehension test is required?

Normally, I'm against Ol' Rog had/has weak era/draw threads. But there have been so many OmG gUyS rAfA iS dOpInG hUr DuR threads being made.

So, against my better judgement

Federer basically has a bye to the semis. Shapovalov, Dimitrov, and Berrettini all went out like chumps.
Why would any of them had been an impediment for Fed?

He destroyed Berrettini at Wimbledon, he demolished Denis in Miami and is 7-1 against Dimi, his lone loss coming due to back issues at last year's USO.

I agree with you, even without mentioned exits, Fed draw was laughable... Good job, mr Tiley....

All the top seeds have 50% easy matches it’s why you want to be seeded in the first place - if you want to slug it out with all the seeded players then don’t get seeded for the tournament...

Pretty sure the draw was computer generated based on seedings and also like Wimbledon performance on that surface is probably a factor as well as if Fed was out for a year and not in the top 20 he would have been seeded higher based on previous record on that surface..

I am pretty sure they didn’t just say let’s give Fed 4 easy games till he plays anyone decent...

Don’t think that works that way...

Hey I love that he actually has an easy draw. Not sure why people hate on it. This is a good thing for a Fed fan. Why do people talk like this is a bad thing? Are we going to frown upon this slam 20 years later if he wins it?

"Yeah, but Feds 21st slam was weak until he beat Djoker and Rafa, so it does not count."

They probably wouldn't but at least they are quality opponents

For about 5 years now there really haven't been tough draws anyway. Are some draws tougher than others? Sure, but since roughly mid-2014, draws only matter once players reach the SF (on some occasions the QF).

Plus Ol' Rog is 38

Its back-weighted, which you failed to compliment with the basel draw. SF DJOKOVIC, FINAL NADAL . It doesn't matter who you play in the previous rounds as they are a means to a most unsightly destination

Well, I guess that comes with consistency, right? GOAT's tend to be that way overall. There will be the occasional early anomaly losses to Seppi and Millman just to let you know he is human and likeable.
The Nextgen are just fakes & pretenders which bow out early year after year on the biggest stage.

If Djokjovic loses (early **jinx :) **) it's probably his arm or wife giving him problems. He'll find some excuse for sure.

No, imagine tennis pro's reaction when Fedr gets to the final not by beating Berrettini, but by beating the journeyman who beat Berrettini.

I highly doubt Sandgren is going to get passed Querrey, and even if he does, he'll probably lose to Pella/Fognini. Not that it matters anyway, because your arguments are beyond idiotic.

Yeah, and Fed won because of speed, and not because of Novak losing early...
Novak losing early is somehow detrimental to Federer ? Fed won because he was better than the others, it's simple. He doesn't have to beat Djokovic to win the AO.

Sandgren, Querrey, Pella, Fognini, what does it matter? They're all weak QF players compared to Berrettini (top 8) and Dimitrov (beat Fed at USO and former #3).
