I wouldn't call pre-2011 Djokovic prime overall, sure, but he had some prime showings and AO 08 was the best of them, close to peak even. Probably his only fully prime showing in a slam pre-2011 though. Likewise, I wouldn't call post-AO'10 Federer prime overall but he did have some prime showings, including RG 11 and WB 12 (last three matches) in slams. But overall they were too few and far between to call that period prime.
I’d include USO 11 as prime showing as well. Peak Djoko needed some assistance from above to magically win that SF and rob tennis lovers of a Fedal final.

Djokovic had a longer prime but I don't think any player in tennis history can top Peak Fed.
Past Peak Fed beat a GOATing 2011 Djokovic at Roland Garros and was within a whisker of beating him at the USO if he could have executed a simple forehand or not double faulted in that classic choke closeout game.

It was definitely his best post-2010 level, and arguably better than 2009.

Cincy 2012/2015 was also prime level stuff.

For individual matches, Wimbledon 2009 SF, YEC 2010 SF, Wimbledon 2015 SF, Shanghai 2014 SF, IW 2012 and 2017 tournaments all had some great play past his prime.

I think they would be very even, even though I gave my vote to Fed. When Federer was at his peak, Djokovic was still not fully matured, and it seemed Djokovic would never be able to beat Fed or even Rafa who is just 1 year older. When Fed got old and declined - from when would be hard to decide, but people already ruled him out of slams in 2012, so, I think 2012 Federer was already seen by many as declined and old - he just couldn't beat Djokovic at slam level, BO5s. I guess 2010-2012 would be good years to look at when it comes to Fed v Djok rivalry, and to me, it seems quite even. Federer having the upper hand in H2H in 2013 is huge, as that was one of Djokovic's peak years and Fed was quite far removed from his peak, but Fed still couldn't beat him in slams, showing for older players, it just becomes harder to maintain focus and the level of play over 5 sets. This might give Djokovic's younger rivals of today, Sinner and Alcaraz, a bit of an advantage in the future clashes, but Alcaraz is still young at 20 and still improving, so let's see.

Fed also beat Novak in 4 in the WB SF in 2012… then winning the tournament over Murray in the final.

This was past-peak Fed taking out peak years Novak quite solidly, like he did at RG the year before.

2006 Federer is not going to do worse than this against peak Novak.

Fed does not have too many top5 top10 matches during his peak years, win rate against top5 top10 not too impressive either, that is all you need to know.

Fed on his peak make djoker look like an amateur, djoker on his peak to win vs federer has to force him to miss match points on his serve ,the diference is huge.Thats why is the goat . Lucky for djoker majority of atp tournaments and gs are on medium speed courts.

We know the answer to this as we have seen the proof.
Ao djokovic. He demolished close to peak federer in straight sets
Fo federer. 2011 is the proof. Past prime federer beat unbeaten until that day djokovic in 4 sets
W federer. 2012 is proof. Even further declined federer beats peak djokovic easily
Uso federer. This is harder but given peak or near peak djokovic was labouring past past peak federer in 2010 and 2011 id thinkmpeak federer takes this as well.
YEC federer. Almost 40 year old federer beat djokovic inmlondon the last time they played

Problem we have is federers peak was almost 20 years ago. So younger fans wont remember how great Federer was at his peak.

Right... 237 straight weeks at #1 is all you need to know.

What a truly moronic comment.

I guess maybe it’s the days we're living in… Feds peak ended over 15 years ago. I think maybe we’re just seeing a lot of newer fans who have little to no real idea what it was like to see him play at the height of his powers.

He was so domineering I stopped paying attention myself for a while.

Anyway…Still cool to see the poll results as they are - even with so many Fed fans gone.
