How can Sinner become more popular?

Imo Sinner will be the most successful player of his generation but he needs to work on his personality and looks to be more appealing or he might become another Djokovic ( a champion only nationalists care about) there are some ways to become more popular

1- do away with boring hat and take a hair cut

2- constantly change his GFS

3- develop some humor for his interviews

4 start being cocky up to some degree

Keep doing what he does currently on court, stay humble and respectful off the court as he is.
He is already popular, and the popularity will keep on rising.

Not true, there were champions who were not loved by the crowd or were deemed as champion nobody cares about ( Lendl, Djokovic and Sampras upto some degree) I don't want Sinner to fall in that category I want him to be more popular than Carlos since he will be better player out of these two.

only nationalists care about line probably will stay the lowest bar of april, not bad, a month just started and already we have the winner, congrats

Being the way he is contributes to his success.
His hat helps him shield himself from the outside, which brings nental stability.
Being very privy about relationshis, being unpretentious and genuine also helps.

Breaking his current balance for the sake of popularity might be a terrible mistake.

Let the legend grow organically.

Let's be honest his boring hat shield his personality and make him duller than he is. Wearing a cool bandana with Guga type hair will make him immensely popular

Steps to become popular for Sinner would be :

01. First and foremost he has to be the dominant alpha on tour, no compromise at that, he will have to win multiple slams every year and be ranked 1.
02. Develop sense of humor in interviews and also has to work on his english, voice modulation and dialogue delivery.
03. He has to work on his legs, those calves and thighs need to look a bit more in shape. It is a huge turnoff looking at him in shorts when he plays...
04. He will have to become more confident around women

That's it, nothing else is needed, rest of it NIKE will take care of it...

You've got it all wrong.

His game is boring, simplistic, robotic and has no athletisme. Lets face it. He's a baseline basher.

People would love him for his mild personality if he had an exciting game. Now it's seen as boring + boring.

Sinner will not attract new viewers and he will definitely not attract young players to the sport.

The style of play is extremely effective and that's simply bad for the sport. It doesn't help that people who like Sinner are condescending towards all other players. The Sinner fan base is extremely toxic.

Rune's legs is soothing on the eye and the buzz that Alcaraz brings to court is exhilarating, but ultimately we are here for tennis and for that reason alone I would not wish for Sinner to change. Sinner is Sinner and the direction he is moving with his game is enough.

His biggest problem is that he's not charismatic guy. Sinner looks like very boring person with a lot of good manners.

Alcaraz is totally different. He brings energy on the the court, when you watch him for first time - you have wish to watch him once more. I can't say that for Sinner.

Alcaraz is born to be the first star of tennis because of talents and aura.

He is already quite popular. More Grand Slam success will mean more popularity. Try and reach 20 slams and he will be super popular

Such a ridiculous thread. So you want him to be fake just because he can be more popular? Honestly I would have way more respect for him if he is true to himself even if it's perceived as "boring". Do I find him interesting? No, I don't. I don't find his personality appealing and I find his tennis too robotic and utterly predictable. I don't think I'll ever be a fan. But he's a fantastic player who's the best in the world right now at what he does. He doesn't have to do anything "extra" to be liked. That would just make it more cringe.

Nobody asked him to be fake. Was Roger fake when he changed his ugly looks to look better with a nice hair cut ? Come on man, dont project thing.

Any evidence for his lack of popularity?

Besides I think he will be more popular than Djokovic:
the population of Italy is much larger than the population of Serbia. Plus you can add Austria who feel closely connected to South Tyrol. Heck he might even get some bonus points with Germans and Swiss.

Also Djokovic is quite polarizing. One reason for that is that there is a negative bias against Serbians in the west. Another one is that he has some controversial views. On top of that djokovic is quite emotional on the court and does break some rackets.

Also it helps that sinner is not beating the “beloved” Federer and Nadal. That also hurt Djokovic’s popularity.

Edit: I’m assuming that Sinner continues being successful and becomes number 1.

Is this a cultural thing?
Where I'm from cocky, flashy, loud etc. doesn't necessarily equate to appeal or having a personality.
Let him be himself. I bet his fan base has grown exponentially in the past year and will continue to do so if he simply continues on this path.

His thighs????!! Jeeez.. Watch Mr. Olympia if it bothers you that much.

I think Sinner is popular but he'll never be as popular as Alcaraz for instance, his game and personality are just too robotic. He's brutally efficient to a fault, kind of like Djokovic (the older Djokovic, young Djoko was more dynamic) or Lendl to use an older comp. Kind of boring but really effective, machine like

It doesn't matter anyway, I'm sure Sinner doesn't care if he's the most popular guy on tour as long as he keeps winning.

There's seriously nothing he can do. If he continues to win he will become more popular but on a modest scale because tennis has a very limited mainstream reach compared to what it used to have. He will never be a Tiger Woods or Roger Federer because the ceiling is lower than it used to be, because the sport has become more niche.

I don't think it's a mire limited mainstream, I just think it's a matter of some of the most popular tennis players ever not being in the tour anymore, Federer, Nadal and Serena. The women's game is struggling to find a popular star and the men's game only really has Djokovic who is hearing the end and Alcaraz that have real star appeal. It's cyclical, popularity will rise again when more stars rise. A guy like Shelton being great would do wonders for the popularity of the sport.

I agree with your take on Shelton.

dude this thread is so shallow. Sinner just needs to be himself, remain humble and confident and he will be likeable, that's all there is to it, anything else is stupid.

Calm down Duck son and tone down your virtue signalling. Shall we pretend that Superstars don't care about the popularity and marketing?

Probably nothing other than let his game to the talking. Charisma is something you either have or you don’t. He doesn’t have it. He wasn’t blessed with good looks either. So just dominate. It’s fine. Not everyone is going to be prom king. But you can still be GOAT.

Pete didn’t have charisma either as he was an introvert but decades later people still marvel at his play and he’s still one of the best to ever put on a pair of tennis shoes. Sinner is basically a more modern version of Pete. Not the same game but similar personalities. A few close friends but an introvert who’s focused

Jannik Sinner appears to me a person who has a lot of inner self belief and takes care of what close friends, family and coaches feel and tell him. He seems to care less about image, status, popularity and other vanity-related stuff. To me that makes him very interesting in the (tennis)world we live in nowadays.

I think the people who say he is not athletic are blind. In last 2 years Sinner has turned into a quite a little runner. He slides well into corners especially on backhands. He can run to catch dropshots when it seems impossible and he is dynamic enough to not be bothered by variety.

He is not as quick as Nadal and Alcaraz who are freaks but he is also not as wooden as Berdych. Somewhere below Djokovic and Murray in athleticism but not too bad since he is so powerful.
