how long will it take roddick

It matters to him ok? Why do you care?

And if Roddick should progress further than the Quarters and capture a MS or a tourny here and there right after the Open, he might be 6 again. He's only 2-300 points behind.

after watching roddick lose to Del Porto... I don't know if he can win Washington.

porto was playing extremely well well roddick played **** in the first set but stepped it up in the 2nd, if they both play well i think its gonna be a close one so washington might be interesting if they both make it to the finals, roddick has a tough quater tho.

HIS #6 spot? haha. who cares about the 6 spot. he won't win USO or either of the remaining AMS. he might not win any tournaments, frankly, and it'd be great for him to make the masters cup.
I'd love nothing more for him to get back in the top 5, but don't count on it.

I think if Roddick falls out of the top 10, he either will fall further and retire within the next few years or make one last hurrah into it in the next couple years in a downtime before retiring.

If that's the case how tough will it have to get for him to pull through? o_o...falling out of top 10 perhaps? =O

Roddick is done. Plain and simple. DONE.
I'm starting to think that, too. He hasn't been the best when it's mattered the most (Slams and Masters Series).

I'm curious to see how he goes in the indoor season. It'll be interesting to see how he fairs in Madrid and the Paris Masters...

Roddick's future is pretty clear when posters start justifying losses to players like Potro with litany of how well Potro played. We are not talking one of the big 3 beating ARod. The top tier pros are in China playing the Olympics. The Countrywide Classic was marginally better than a Challenger series event and ARod can't win. I do not see him as a USO quarterfinalist.

It's so rare on these boards to see this type of cogent analysis. Strikes to the heart of the matter in just a few quick sentences. Well analyzed.

Are we going to say Nadal has no prayer at the USO because he was in trouble against Starace?

I was kind of thinking something similar. Andy may not be at his best right now - I'm still not convinced he's fully recovered from his shoulder injury - but del Potro did play well. This is the third Masters victory since Rafa pulled out of Stuttgart.

I,m not really a big Roddick fan, that being said he has been injured alot this season so I dont think hes playin hes best tennis at the moment, also del Potro is playing pretty awesome right now and has a big future ahead of him, anyone who has seen him play knows hes a great talent, Andy will play solid at the USO I have no doubt

To think he actually missed Olympics to play in Washington says a lot about him for me. I think he should of gone to Beijing and though inconsistent he would of been in for a shout, especially if someone knocked Federer out.

Roddick has been plagued by injury most of this season
and has been nowhere near 100%. He is still a top 10
player. Hopefully he will be able to make a decent showing
at the USO.

He had a shoulder injury. Got to the final of the first event after a rest. He's not done.

For starters Roddick is a complete disgrace for not representing and participating in the Olympic games. He truly let our country down and deserves to be punished by hopefully losing early at the US Open and never winning another grand slam for the rest of his career on the ATP tour.

I hope this is a joke. Blake and the Bryan brothers are still in for the US aren't they? Roddick made a good choice to try to get into a good rythem heading into the US Open.

Also, I don't get the logic, he lets your country down by not participating in the Olympics, then he should lose early at the US Open and never win another title?. Would that not be considered letting his country down in the same way?

how ignorant, doesnt anyone believe in free will, any one can do anything they want to do as long as it doesnt harm others, u expect him to go all the way to beijing injured to try to win a title for the states??? what does he owe to the states?? he already has won the davis cup for them, was their number 1 player for years and years and alot more.

Roddick is going to be hard-pressed to get back to #6. He skips out on clay season, doesn't have a reliable enough of a baseline game, and his serve is gradually losing speed. He's not the most agile guy on tour and his footwork leaves much to be desired.

He's getting married and that usually means less focus on the tour. Younger guys like Murray, Simon, Tsonga, Gasquet, del Potro, Wawrinka are bound to blossom and occupy the top 10. It wouldn't surprise me to see Roddick, Blake, Nalbandian, Davydenko, and Ferrer all out of the top 10 next year.
