Say, hypothetically, as a kid you are given a choice to either have Sampras' career or Federer's career (assuming he retired right after Wimby 09).
You would inherit the chosen player's achievements, playing style, tennis skills, abilities, etc. But not his personality or character. (No, you won't look anything like Pete or Roger, you can keep your face and name...)
Those who chose Federer, you would play the most gracious style of tennis with impeccable forehand, footwork, touch, etc. You won't win your first slam until the age of 22. You would go on to win 15 slams including a career grand slam and break all sorts of records in existence. However, you would be owned by a younger kid called Nadal, losing 5 slam finals to him and be beaten by him 13 times in total. But would also get your revenge 7 times. 21 consective slam semis. 20 slam finals. Et caetera.
Those who fancy to be Sampras, you would possess an unbeatable serve coupled with a deadly forehand. And so forth. Your career would pan out just like his, winning 14 slams including 7 Wimbledons. But you won't be able to dominate on all surfaces. You would "suck" on clay (by your own impressive standard). However, in the process, you would not be owned by any of your rivals. 6 year end No.1s. Et caetera.
Would you want to be Sampras or Federer? And why?
