K90 vs. N-Code90

Is there really a big difference? Always hear and read that the K90 is just the N-Code90 with a different paint job.

I was wondering if any of you that have used both could tell me how different they play or is it all mental.

I have been using this N-Code90 for the last year now, and it's almost finished so I want to retire it and I am deciding whether to try and find another N-Code90 or go ahead and buy a K90.

I have been playing both K90 and the N90 on back to back days. Here is my observation.

N90 swings lighter of the two, has the old school feel to it - frame is stiffer. I had not problem with the N90 - coming from SRD TOur 90 and RDS001 Mid. The N90 is all plug and play for me.

K90 swings heavier but the frame feels more muted. I was intimidated playing the K90 at first (sat in my closet for 5 months) - I was worried how I can handle the racquet at the net and 1hbh. So last month I decided to take it out and started playing with it. I found I had to adjust my swing to deal with the weight - but once I learned to relax my swing / grip everything just comes automatically. K90 is a very Sweet racquet. It does everything exceptionally well..... so as the N90.

I really like both - I have them in my bag all the time.

I actually find the K90 swings easier than the N90, but there always seems to be a variance in opinions on the subject here. I notice the K90 has a little more inherent pop compared to the N90 as well. I am fixing to string another one up with BDE Perf 17g mains and Isospped Classic 17g to compare to my current setup of Multifeel mains and Pro Line 2 crosses.

the k90 is one of the most forgivable 90s i've ever played. as soon as i switched to it, it felt like an extension of my hand. i was getting the consistency and feel of a 90, but the forgivability and sweetspot of a 95. it was a GREAT combo. even though it's forgivable, i personally think it's the closest to the PS85 in terms of feel and control. personally, the n90 was a letdown for me.

check out the tenniswarehouse reviews. it sums it up pretty well.

Can someone explain to me just exactly what forgivability is? I read it all the time in terms of tennis rackets, but I'm not sure what the clear definition is.

It is a term usually used to describe how the racquet behaves when you hit a ball off-center. So a unforgivable racket is one that doesnt hit well on off-center shot, and the opposite with forgivable rackets.

The N90 is just a tad lighter, and more head light. The K90 is more balanced in its weight distribution. The N90 has a tad less power then the K90 because of the weight difference. The K90 is an all around more solid racquet.

I never played well with n90, but I did with the k90. The K90 I found has a larger sweetspot and sligtly more power. No doubt, as another poster pointed out, it's due to the K90 being more evenly balanced.

The downside is that the k90 is very heavy to swing. My arm couldn't take the strain in the long run so I have switched to the k95 instead.

How about PS Tour 90?

The specs are pretty close, even on the power rating. It's 0.2 grams lighter and has a lighter sw. Again not much.

the top link is for the 95

i thought the k90 swung alittle easier, had abit more feel, and more pop when u hit the sweetspot
the n90 had abit more swingweight to it, muter in feel, and had more of a uniform stringbed. this is probably due to the difference in the string pattern

personally i liked both but the k90 a touch bit better. i also liked the shorter pallet of the k90.
i think the difference in opinions here on the boards is probably due to wilsons bad QC

My bad, I edited the linke to the correct review.

Without hitting any balls, the N90 felt better as the balance and sw seemed so sweet however, the moment you started to play you'll realize that the N90 is really really low powered and it really required that the player commit to each and every shot.

The K90 doesn't have quite the same plush feel and is a stiffer, more powerful frame. I prefer the K90 cus it is really a lot easier to use than the N90 but it is still a true player's frame.

Cheers,

mawashi
