Topic is not a problem, Nadal's an amazing player.

What I find iritating is the constant:

A: Nadal is best, Federer sucks.
B: No, Federer is best, Nadal sucks.
A: No, Nadal is best, Federer sucks.
B: No, Federer is best, Nadal sucks.
A: No, Nadal is best, Federer sucks.
B: No, Federer is best, Nadal sucks.
A: No, Nadal is best, Federer sucks.
...

It's the elephant in the room and you don't want to look at the elephant? :)

Nadal is the best. :)

You're in the Talk Tennis - General Pro Player Discussion forum complaining that the two best players of the generation are receiving too much attention?

How about some interesting, insightful chat about Ito and Martin instead

I don't think that either Nadal or Federer deserve that kind of "attention", especially because nearly every time the achievements of one of them are downplayed.

first of all, I didnt ask you a thing, go play somewhere else

second, why do you keep bringing something that happened 2 years ago? you dont have any new pearls to share with?

and last, the same goes to you, say something like "federer crybaby, federer loser 2009 australian open haha" to a federer fan and youre gonna spend the next week in a hospital, there are way more federer fans out there so better be careful, boy

Planned on being banned today are we? Nearly every post you make is reportable, because you speak garbage, you act it, and you are it based on your attitude to the fans who host his thread. If I think Federer ruined Rafa's day, then I'm going to point it out. If I think Federer is the most arrogant athlete we've seen for some time in this gentleman's game, then don't expect me to feel sympathetic when he makes everything about him (which he constantly does, in victory and defeat, it's always about him). He is a loser in every sense of the word, and so are you, little boy. Go and play where you belong, in the Federer News Thread.

Why are you giving thumbs up to a post than calls another user a "loser"?

Just yesterday you said "insults are the last refuge of the ignorant" when a user insulted you.

Don't be a hypocrite. Nearly your entire body of posts concern Nadal (yeah, I just looked) ;)
Thanks for the link. I noticed the usual bitterness from federer...

"But Rafa’s signature foe, Roger Federer, was dismissive, claiming, “On clay you don’t need to have a volley. You almost don’t need a serve. All you need to have is legs, an incredible forehand and backhand and to run things down."

That's an old quote isn't it? "You almost don't need a serve" precious!

There is no other word for this guy, he has single-handedly ruined this thread, beyond recognition.

This thread is going off topic. Are there any mods here?

Anyone know what is the latest on Nadal? Is he ok physically? I heard an interview with Toni saying that they are hoping to avoid Delpo/Davydenko in the earlier rounds.

And the draw is in 4 hrs! This will probably be on of the more crucial draws in recent memory not least bcoz everyone is hoping to avoid Muzz, Davydenko and Delpo in their quarter. I'm psyched :)

It's an important draw because the GS is at stake for nadal, but I haven't been this relaxed for a HC draw for nadal in a long time. Last years AO draw was the worst. :)

Not really going off topic. If you go back one page you can find pics from his latest practice session and also a training video. The last news on his health came from Toni and Rafa himself who said he was fine. So. there ya go.

Well, not to be a jerk. But IMO this thread was created to provide all the recent news on Rafael Nadal. Now there are TONS of posts on this thread about fanboyism, movies and good ol' fashioned trolling. The result is one has to go several pages back to see a news article or an interview from Nadal. It's like hunting for a needle in a haystack.

It will be good if we can limit the offtopic chat here, and keep this thread only for the relevant articles on Nadal, and the pertinent discussion thereof..

I'm sure everyone that frequents this thread probably know by now that Rafa could potentially face Andy Murray in the semis of the Australian Open, and Marin Cilic before that.

His first round opponent, however, is Marcos Daniel. Sounds familiar? The last time they met in a major was at the French Open in 2009 where Nadal crashed out of the fourth round to Soderling. Fast forward to next week, Rafa will kick start his AO campaign with Daniel again. I think this would give Rafa more motivation as well as a reminder that good health cannot be taken for granted....

edit: vamos!!

While Nadal is prone to injuries, he's not made of glass. Neither is he stupid. I don't expect to see a F.O 2009 scenario EVER again in his career.

If Nadal has problems with his knees (and he may very well have a lot) he will take sufficient precautions to not overplay and be in relatively decent shape in the majors. Sure, he may lose early, but it won't be like 2009 where he effectively ruined the channel slam by overplaying in the spring, and thus surrendered his #1 and #2 ranking.

Very happy with the draw, extremely. Only draw that could have hurt him would be the absurd QF Murray, SF Djokovic. Now that he's only got Murray to worry about, no problem at all. This Nadal is mentally tough and physically 100%, nothing like 2010 AO.

I don't know but 1 page back is not that big of a deal tennisfan3.

yep - now it's one page. But it was more before. It seems some of the useless banter was removed. But no biggie.

I do appreciate this thread as an easy place for news-updates of young Nadal..

tentatively he is scheduled to play 5 tournaments in the clay season, from madrid all the way to RG. hmmm...

thanks Mustard. that is just insane. i hope he skips one or two of them.

Yeah must be tempting for Rafa to play a massive amount of clay, because he must find tennis to be more fun on clay than any other surface. Especially with 4 slams in a row and going for 5 and then 6 at Wimbledon, he'd be especially enthusiastic.

It was for Messarger's attention :)

Queen's Club and Wimbledon straight after that as well. Nadal is at his strongest in the non-hardcourt period of the tennis year, so it's no wonder he wants to play a full schedule in that period.

But 5 events in the space of two months? I dont think even someone like him could pull it off. And even if he did, there's no point going gung ho in the clay season when there is still Wimbledon and the hard court season after that. That's not thinking long term at all.

Nadal has complained in the past about the amount of hardcourt tournaments, but what I think annoys him is that he can't play all the clay and grass events as a fresh player because they are squeezed into a 3 month period. In 2008, he coped with this the best, but even then, he had an early loss in Rome to Ferrero.

He must have a lot of confidence in the blood-spinning treatment, so that's probably why, because he knows he just needs 4 days of treatment and BOOM his knee is 100%. He had both knees treated in 2010, and neither has recurred since.

It's not just the knees though. When you're playing to much tennis the risk of injuring any other part of your body is much higher. Plus mental fatigue.

I actually think skipping Madrid makes the most sense since it's environment (indoors) is the least closest to RG.

Nadal talks about this too, but I think it's a bit overdone. If nadal is fresh he will have time at RG to refind whatever he loses in timing from playing at madrid. Imo form/freshness is more important than not playing in madrid.
