Nadal not at fault for Slam H2H discrepancy

vs Djokovic.

In the thread about Djokodal Slam H2H which got deleted, @-NN- posted this:
Djokovic was good enough to oblige Nadal at RG, but, miraculously, despite there being 2 HC Slams, Nadal has not been good enough to so often oblige Djokovic.

Funny how that works huh.

RG = 7 meetings
AO and USO COMBINED = 5 meetings

5 meetings at 2 Slams do look quite measly, and it just struck me that it's weird for Nadal to have apparently done so much worse at the AO and USO compared to Djokovic at the FO. After all Rafa's record at the AO is not much worse than Djokovic's at the French, and at the USO it's better although less consistent. So I decided to make a basic analysis of the numbers of Djokodal meetings at the 3 majors.

If we take 2007 as the starting point (Djokovic's breakthrough season), apart from the times they met Rafa made it further or to the same round as Djokovic at the AO in '07, '09, '10, '14, '17, '18. He didn't play in 2013. That means there were 4 Slams where Nadal didn't reach Djokovic.

At the USO it was '08, '09. Nadal didn't play in '12 and '14, Djokovic in '17. Again 4 times Nadal lost before meeting Djokovic.

At the FO Djokovic lost earlier than Nadal 5 times ('09, '10, '11, '17, '18) but considering Nadal didn't make it to him in 2016 we can discount one.

Considering the above, it is by no means fair to blame the huge discrepancy in the amount of Djokodal matches at AO and USO vs French on Nadal not being good enough on HC. This gets brought up from time to time when H2H's are discussed here and again shows that numbers without context can be misleading.

To make it clear, I don't consider Nadal better than Djokovic at the USO because of the H2H, and I don't think Nadal owns Djokovic in Slams. This thread is purely about Rafa not being the main reason for the significant RG dominance in the Djokodal H2H.
