Probably making an effort to become more fluent. She can definitely understand since she grew up in Osaka for first 3 years of her life. I wonder if she is understands Haitian too.
Don't you mean French?
My bad, my bad. I'm not familiar with cultures and their languages.
Now watch, every teenage girls are now going to try to copy Osaka service motion which is pinpoint service motion. Not sure if it is right for all girls, really
the hybrid pinpoint stance demands that players begin in a platform stance with feet apart a little bit wider.
All that hard work is paying off. Osaka is reportedly set to sign one of the richest sponsorship deals in women’s sport, worth an estimated $14 million ($US10 million) per year.
Her current sponsorship deal with Adidas expires at the end of 2018 and the brand is reportedly moving quickly to ensure she stays.
The monster deal would see Osaka rocket up the list of highest-earning female athletes on the planet. It’s reportedly the third richest sponsorship deal in women’s tennis and the most money Adidas has ever handed to a female tennis player.
Her potential new sponsorship deal and US Open champion prize money of $5.3 million ($US3.8m) would see Osaka jump Caroline Wozniacki into second spot on the 2018 Forbes’ list of highest paid female athletes.
what do you mean - pin point?
Demands?

doesn't look pinpoint to me
Class of Federer even in her play.
Look at 4:37
So she is taking questions in Japanese and answering in English only ?
Link.Sascha's twitter is also very funny.
Link.
I remember the scene when SW smashes her racquet and he points. The telly keeps showing this. Was he pointing out that it should be a point penalty.
So she is taking questions in Japanese and answering in English only ?
I hope the Japanese can relate to that.
11:55 an english question, she smiles. "rena's drama" lol.
My point is -- did Sascha immediately realize that it was a point penalty. Was Sascha waiting for SW to make another mistake so it would be a point penalty ??? Not that it would have swung the game. Its not like umpire would not have caught it anyways.
It took me no time to learn Hiragana and Katagana. Kanji was a bit slower -- I learned about 150. This was back in the 90s when I was going to Tokyo often. Now i've forgotten it allWhen growing up in US, her Mom would speak to her in Japanese at home, so which is why she understands it very well but cannot speak it as well since her environment was English speaking. She can also speak Japanese but does not feel comfortable since its limited. Tennis players are masters at learning multiple languages so no time she'll be fluent.

i wonder if Sacha and Serena ever had anything beyond a professionally relationship?
Yeah, i think i can understand that. When I was there someone told me that there are several (7 or 9) ways of addressing others depending on position or something like that.I think Naomi is much better at speaking Japanese than she lets on. I think the reason why she doesn't use it so much is because she doesn't want to make mistakes with the cultural meaning of the language. It is one thing to be fluent, it is another to avoid cultural faux pas in the Japanese culture unless you have been bought up in it from a child. Just the way you address yourself to your elders or your peers or people who are younger is a whole system you have to learn.
hopefully she will be embraced in Japan now
but yea, @NuBas is being pretty naive in some of his post regarding Naomi and how the Japanese have reacted to her.
i wonder if Sacha and Serena ever had anything beyond a professionally relationship?
some of their reactions post professional breakup has seemed quite personal...
OMG! she is so adorable!Naomi was on Ellen today, I just saw the clip, it was adorable! I can't find a way to embed the video, but here is a link:

What you mean? Talking about the "hafu" thing? Did you not watch the video I posted above? She has Japanese blood and as long as she is Japanese at heart, I don't see why she isn't Japanese. I don't think its how you look, its your behavior, etc.
OMG! she is so adorable!
sorry, but i'm claiming her for America!
she is an American, i don't care about the technicalities!
lol, nope!Does Jack Sock not do it for you?
Lovely to see the congrats includes former USO champions. And a shout out to the remarkable Kimiko Date. Now, she was truly a role model and possibly would have been first Japanese Major champ if she'd played her natural left hand game and not retired so early first time around.
Has he spoken out? Aside from the tweets posted here.i wonder if Sacha and Serena ever had anything beyond a professionally relationship?

We've all heard her speaking Japanese, here is Naomi with a Japanese reporter at around 11 minutes, she sounds really funny and fluent.
Sam Querrey?lol, nope!
