by the way, i noticed that murray has a really poor record against young guns:
0-2 against richard
0-2 against marcos
0-3 against djokovic
0-2 against nadal
Pretty revealing stats. I had no idea Murray had such a poor record against his peers. I knew he had lost his only previous match against Gasquet.
I still think Murray has the talent to be top-ten, and so does Gasquet, who will finish the year in the top ten.
I expect both of these players to have good records in 2008. Both will enter the year as high-seeded players in the Masters tournaments in the first half of next year, which is a big advantage.
Murray had a great start and and very good finish to his year. Gasquet was up and down, but I believe the run to the semis at Wimbledon and making the cut for Shanghai will give him the shot of confidence he needs to win much more consistently next year.
Guys like Blake, Haas, Ljubicic are pretty much done as far as top-ten material from now on. The "Young Guns" should be dominating the show next year. And it will be quite a challenge for Federer to maintain his present level of dominance and finish #1 again for 2008.
