It's a bit of a moot point now, since you got the new 100P, but I did get a hit this morning with an old mate who's also a coach, so I got to test the TC100. Mostly groundstrokes, no serve and only a few volleys, so it's limited but I think I got a good feel for it. My specs are 63 RA / 310g / 315mm / grip C (similar to Prince), so this is very similar to the 100P, seeing that the RA on the Angell is unstrung and typically drops by 3-4 points once strung, putting it around 59-60.
Initial impressions:
- very plush, but at the same time feels very solid at impact, which I attribute to the foam filled structure
- massive sweet spot, much larger than the original PP100P
- no harshness whatsoever even on off-center shots, and very stable too
- launch angle similar to that of the PP100P, so quite high. That's OK, I need net clearance
- surprising amount of pop on the ball - more than any of the Phantom's I've tried
I'm really happy with this, and I think it should complement my game quite well. I'm eager to do a few serves as well, to see if the power on groundstrokes translate there too. This was my biggest knock on the original PP100P, I was missing punch both on first serves and kick serves, which is my best shot.
But if the reviews from TW and Jonas at Tennisnerd are anything to go by, I don't think you would be losing out much with the new 100P, which seems to be one of those rare instances where a tweak in technology actually improved an already good frame. Please do report back here once you've tried it, I'm really interested in your thoughts.
