Professional Grip Sizes?

Someone told me the pros like roger federer and nadal use 4 1/4 grip sizes...Why is that...

I am 5' 9" and use a 4 1/2...i do not have extremely big hands either...
what would be the advantage of switching to a smaller grip?
Are there any smaller sized pros that use larger grips?

about me:
college level player
k six one
two handed backhand
i naturally have a eastern forehand but i change it around a bit depending on the shot i want to hit...

Federer is pretty much 4 3/8, custom mold/size grip
Nadal is 1/4 since he was a kid...

why does Federer need a cutom mold grip, arn't the regular wilson grips comfortable enough for him?

So he has the exact size he wants - not really too much to do with comfort, more just personal preference.

OP, Ivo Karlovic uses a massive grip (although that's not really surprising as he's massive).

Did you say that Federer had a cutom mold grip? If so someone would not need to change the whole mold of the grip unless they didn't like the shape of it as its very basic to get the exact grip size with an overgrip or rubber grip of a slightly different thickness.

With an eastern forehand, you wouldn't benefit from a smaller grip. Eastern=flat, and smaller grips benefit people with extreme grips like nadal who use tons of spin. Bigger grips are for flat players like sampras.

I believe Priority One customizes Fed's racquets...It all preference and Feds got money in the bank anyways...HAHA

EDIT: It's** all preference
