prostaff 95s strings???

After demoing a few rackets that were suggested to me by other members, and liking one or two, notably the pacific X feel, I was hitting with a friend who had just gotten the new prostaff 95s (RF97 paintjob) and he let me try it.

I truly don't get it.

coming from a 13 ounce dunlop to the 95s sounds a bit bizarre, but I loved it.
Anyway a few more outings with it, and I've decided to switch.

The demo and my friend's racket were both strung with 4g.
So coming from an 18x20 racket strung with genesis typhoon at 53/51.

Agreed. 4G is a durable poly. You can go down to a 15G or switch to Kevlar.

Well you'll want a 15G poly string if you want good durability in that frame.

TW offers Wilson Ripspin in that gauge at a sensible price.

Otherwise, a cheaper string fairly similar to 4G is Kirschbaum Pro Line X. In the 16 gauge this string is fairly durable, but don't expect wonders in that open string pattern.

RPM Blast would definitely be worth a try; definitely on the more durable side as well. I pop lux strings easily within an hours worth of playing; RPM lasted me substantially more playing time!

NOPE. RPM Blast is one of the most short lived polys I have ever used. Perhaps the upcoming 15L gauge will be better in this regard, but I doubt it.

I get 3-4 hours of good play max out of RPM Blast on clay.

No, they won't be counterproductive, they will be very short lived in such an open pattern though IMO. If you're interested in shaped strings in your racquet though, ask mikeler as he generally prefers such strings in his Tour 100T ESP and can give good advice.

Well considering we're talking about 15L or 15 gauge, it's either 4GS, Ripspin or the Prince polys designed for their ESP racquets. Possibly not shaped. EDIT: And not RPM Blast.

Pros Pros Spinox, which the seller claims to be like 4G. Even comes in the gold color similar to 4G. Their 1.30 16 Ga is pretty thick.

Well they say textured strings make more spin by biting into the ball

Whereas smooth string with slide on each other more easily making more snapback

So I gues the question is in an open pattern racket is the spin really coming from the ball biting or the strings snapping back

I tried Focus Hex 1.23/Cyberflash 1.20 @48/48. It had great snap back and lots of spin. Too much for me, I couldn't control it. They say to use a softer shaped poly in the mains and a firmer smooth poly in the crosses. I have yet to find strings that will play well for me in this configuration. Maybe Cyclone Tour 17/Cyberflash 1.20.

I broke blast in 3 hours... not very durable.

I have the Wilson 95 S as well for the following reasons :

1) Big fan of Dolgopolov
2) Big fan of the Wilson Pro Staff feel with the (PWS) . But was disappointed with the PS 95 S (not the same).

This open string pattern racquet will chew up your strings like anything. Got maybe about 6 hours with a full bed of Tourna Big Hitter Blue 17.
