Question for Andy: Yonex

Hi Andy,

I saw that you like the Yonex racquets. I would like you to make a comparison between 95D V core and DR 98 Ezone. I play with pro staff 90 2012, but I look for something more friendly, without losing the characteristics of control, spin and power. I have seen many comments about the DR racquet and have little power. I'll use multi strings. The pro staff I use has swinghweight of 325. I've never played with Yonex. I have a one hand backhand.

Thanks.

I'm not Andy. I'm a nobody I guess. However, I recently bought a Yonex Ezone DR 98 and find it very arm friendly (stiffness 62). It ticks that box of yours at least. I'm coming from a Pro-Kennex 5g so that means something.

As to control, spin and power: well, all are good for me but, maybe not for others (The swingweight is 324 compared to your 325). It is a flexible and plush-feeling racket so, when hitting, it doesn't exactly give the impression of crunching the ball. However, the result is a shot that still seems to fly off with adequate pace and depth (for me). The 5g I'm comparing it to is not exactly a rocket launcher though.

Andy and Chris from TW seemed to like the Yonex Ezone DR 98. I have the blue one.

Andy- "The EZONE DR 98 is one of the best racquets I've ever playtested at TW."

Chris- "Everything I could do with the previous version carried over here, but the feel was just better. I felt very connected to the ball. The EZONE DR 98 offers more power than a traditional control-oriented racquet such as the Wilson Pro Staff 95, while offering more control than a modern player's racquet like the Babolat Pure Aero."

Andy- "The DR 98 performs very similarly to the Ai 98 from every area of the court, and they are both great all-around racquets. However, I did find the DR 98 to have a slightly crisper feel than the Ai 98, and a bit more power and stability. It's one of my favorite modern player's racquets on the market along with the Wilson Blade 98 and Babolat Pure Control Tour."

Thanks Steve Wiliiams.

I asked Andy the question because I knew he was a Yonex fan and maybe he played with the two models I mentioned. The V Core 95D and Ezone DR 98.
