Racquets Similar to Dunlop Aerogel 500 Tour

I currently use the Dunlop Aerogel 500 Tour. I love this racquet but have began getting some wrist problems. I was wondering if you could tell me what racquets in the different racquet brands (Wilson, Prince, Babolat, Volkl, and Yonex) are most similar to the Aerogel 500 Tour but also less stiff and more arm friendly.

Thanks,

J.

I had the same problem you did with the 500 Tour. It didn't cause elbow problems, but made my wrist sore. I have some players racquets that I enjoy hitting with, but prefer to use a more powerful frame in match play since I'm an intermediate player.

I recently bought a Becker Pro on sale for only $99, and so far haven't felt any pain or soreness as I did using the Dunlop. I don't know if the DNX material or slightly lower stiffness rating did the trick, but I'm happy with my choice and will definitely buy second one.

Another option is the Volkl Power Bridge 8, the "sister" racquet to the BB Pro. The Babolat Pure Drive or Aero Drive and the Wilson Pro Open are other options in the same spec range as the Dunlop 500 and Becker Pro.

OK. Babolat - Aeropro Drive, Boris Becker - Becker Pro, Volkl - Power Bridge 8 , Wilson - Pro Open, possibly Kobra Team FX and Blade Team?, anything from Head and Yonex?

Thanks for your help :)

The Dunlop is the easiest on the arm than any of it's competition, so the only way to fix the problem is to change to a constant beam stick such as the Dunlop 300, i changed to it from babolats and it is a dream racquet.

Sure thing. As far as Yonex goes, the new Yonex S-Fit 1 might be to your liking. It's on the stiff side, though not quite as stiff as the Dunlop 500 Tour, and weighs about the same. The RDiS 300 is also in the 11 oz range but much more flexible, so less similar to the Dunlop. From Head, the Speed Elite or Microgel Extreme might be worth checking out.

I haven't tried any of these frames so I'm no help for comparing how they hit. But don't believe that the Dunlop is objectively the "easiest on the arm" compared to its competition. There's no such thing, because no two people were born with the same arm or have the exact same strokes.

I'd suggest the often overlooked Gamma T6... One of the best frames I've ever tried. No pro players, no 'flash' - which is most important to so many 'tennis players', but a great stick.

Yonex RDS 003 is the most arm friendly stick among rackets in this weight range... gotta have a disclaimer that that's just the knowledge i gathered from surfing the forum though lol

I would recommend the Prince Ozone Tour. Lots of pop with a soft, comfortable feel. It's tough to replicate the AG 500's power without getting a stiff racquet, but there are some choices. Also, the Babolat Pure Storm Tour.

Have you tried the non-tour version of the Aerogel 500? I have 2 Tours and 2 regular models. The regular model is a bit lighter (but I have added lead tape) and less stiff-this may be the answer to the wrist issue. It will alllow you to keep playing with the same racquet. Just a thought.

That's a solid recommendation. The 2 swing very similiarly. The Ozone is much much softer, rediculous volley stick.

There are quite a few similar racquets recommended by TW on the 4D500 web page.

My recommendation would be the Volkl PB 8 - light, solid, with loads of that legendary Volkl feel and arm friendly.

This has recently become my racquet of choice and its taken my game to a whole new level

String and Tension setup

One suggestion is to lower the tension of the string. Sometimes the feed back from the racquet causes issue with your arm. If you like the 4D Tour, this is the easiest way to find out rather than spending another $$ to get another frame.

I had the same issue with the RDiS 100 93, I liked the racquet but theframe was too stiff for me. I experimented with the string and tension and finally found the right combination and it worked.
