For me, I was always rooting for Fed and then Rafa. However, there has been a lot of talk lately about Rafa and djoker fans having bromances.

I would assume Rafa fans will be cheering for Fed come Thursday. Will be an exciting and big match for the big3 and their fans.

Winner moves on, loser is out. If Fed wins, Rafa take YE#1.

Hopefully Fed can challenge Djoker.

Vamos Fed?

Well, I always root for Federer against Djokovic. As much as I respect Djokovic, I like Roger much more. Still is my second favourite tennis player after Nadal (outside of this forum).

On this forum, I as a Nadal fan have to fight against the Federer fans ;) so will at times post stuff against him in response to disrespectful comments directed at Nadal from his fanatic fans.

Still not decided on this one. I’m definitely not rooting for Djokovic in this match, but to say I’m ready to root for Fed...? I’ll let you know by the day after tomorrow. :sneaky:

Honestly as they all age and achieve records all of the big 3 seem to be getting closer to one another. The comment Djokovic made in the recent interview summed it up well- “either we all quit or none of us do”. I would not be surprised if the fans as well start getting on this bandwagon of supporting all of the big 3. Everyone will still have their favorites and the ones they hate of course, but I could definitely see people supporting the extension of the big 3 no matter who it is over the next gen.

I want to see Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Zverev and Thiem take out the big 3 in all the Slams consistently. The big 3 are looking more shopworn and inconsistent day to day and more injury prone. Who knows? Maybe 2020 is the season where the big 3 finally go down in the Slams and we get new young champions.

Any Rafa Fan who voted for Djoker will have to face the Purge from VB. I appeal The Queen to take action against any one who strayed in such way.
I support Federer in almost all of his matches against Djokovic anyway. (including slam finals)

Their last match where I wanted Djokovic to win was in Dubai 2014.

Well I said on the Nadal news thread, that I wanted him to go all in for the YE1 in London. When others claimed he should rest up if hes just recovering the stomach injury.

He hasn't actually done much to give us hope, but I wont lie that another YE1 is significant for his career.

He first has to do his own bit though by beating these 2 young guns on his worst surface. If he cant get a win, it means nothing what Djokovic does.

If he thinks rooting for Rafa is a roller coaster, wonder what his thoughts are on rooting for Fed at times. :-D
It’s mostly important for Federer, not Rafa, the match tomorrow. Federer can prevent Novak taking his weeks record. Rafa unlikely getting the weeks n1 record anyway, Rafa more likely to get the slam record. So this match tomorrow another crucial match for Federer. And not long time since Wimbledon. A nightmare scenario for him maybe happening. Can be another humiliation.
Watching all this unfold maybe better to just retire on top like often multiple slam winners do instead playing for this long and having to end career w these tough losses in lastest memory.

But the game and the need to play it, and be part of it, is I guess greater than the need to protect records, standings or even pride.
As Borg said to Mac over the net once, when he was beating himself up on court" it's only a game".

It's great for us neutral fans tennis lovers.

I expect Fed is thinking more about winning a 7th YEC and halting Novak's momentum in the rivalry rather than anything else - I'm sure getting some small revenge for Wimbledon is on his mind. Doubt his weeks at #1 record is at the forefront.

And very few multiple slam winners have retired on top.

No matter how you look at it, another loss to Novak now will be humiliating. And it will probably happen too. Players quit on top to end career w good memories from a career.

It is big for Fed, but let's not act like getting YE#1 is meaningless. If it was, he would not be here.

Don't see how it would be humiliating, it's expected. That's just your dislike of Fed shining through. Again most players don't quit on top, most players keep playing long after the slam trophies have dried up.

Then you aren’t humiliated easily. Wimbledon this year was one of the biggest humiliations of all times in tennis and will never be forgotten. If that was his last final in a slam ever. Sampras has much better memories from his retirement. It’s a reason why many retire on top.
