Still feeling the effects of the data breach :(

Kinda just writing this out of frustration but after all this time I am still having problems due to the sports warehouse data breach.

My info was leaked and I had thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges leading to the shut down of accounts I used frequently, including walmart. In some cases I cant reopen accounts with them now leading to inability to get basic things I need. I know there isnt much you guys can do but hopefully you can share this with Mark, Drew and other upper management that it is still a major problem for some of us.

I am an original customer of both Tennis Warehouse and Skate Warehouse, also Running warehouse and just really sad this was allowed to happen.

sucks. Data breaches seem fairly common.

Did you have your credit card info saved to your account or just from what was supposed to be a single use transaction?

Unfortunately breaches happen, but the way sports warehouse dealt with it was really poor - no direct communication from sports warehouse, just an email from a law firm that sports warehouse contracted to inform customers that there was a breach.(n)

Yes TW had my debit card info saved I believe which is how it got out.

@TW Staff still no response from you guys, guess you don't care?

I’m sure they care, but they probably have to be very careful about what they say since it could be interpreted as speaking for the company as a whole.
Also not sure what OP is looking for. It sucks. These things happen. If you’re mad (and likely rightfully so) take your business elsewhere.

We’re lucky to have this forum at all.

You could also say that TW is lucky to have loyal customers that have shopped with them since the very beginning.:unsure:

The purpose of my post is to share with TW that their data breach has had real and long-term affects for people and hopefully enact change in their system so that it doesnt happen again. Also it is to give them a real-life look into how it has hurt people, a face behind the name so they dont just look at the victims like numbers.

The data breach destroyed my ability to use walmart online (and I still cant) at a time when I was caring for a loved-one who was on hospice. This made it difficult for me to get some items such as towels and rags, bed liners etc at a time when I really needed them. I am using the forum to express to TW management that we are real people and deserved better data protection. This is how changes happen not by just accepting things in life as they are given to you as you are suggesting.

As for what Im asking of TW, maybe a simple apology? Or maybe just acknowledging that this thread exists? @TW Staff you are welcome to contact me privately as well.

Wow, I'm sorry @Shaolin. What happened to you is a major bummer, especially since you were caring for a loved one.

How long ago did this breach happen? Were you able to recover the thousands of dollars that were stolen from you? What happened to you is one of the biggest nightmares for all of us. Hopefully, you are able to make a full recovery and put this behind you as soon as possible. I wish you the best of luck.

Use PayPal or Apple/Google Pay always. They can be hacked as well, but they have more safeguards in place. And the fewer places that have your info the better

Also stop using your debit cards! That is YOUR cash. Credit is THEIR cash. Lots of consumer protection exists for credit cards but when someone steals your debit card it can take weeks or months to get your money back.

Solid advice. Consider getting a prepaid card for online transactions as well. I’ve heard of credit cards offering 1 time use card numbers as well, specifically for online ordering.

Thank you @Pheasant I appreciate that.

Yes it was certainly something I wouldn't want to experience again. Luckily I caught the charges right away so wasn't on the hook financially but it still took many hours of being on the phone and extra stress at a time when I was already at full stress capacity. At one point the fraudulent orders were coming in so fast that once one was dealt with there was another once already made. Now the main issue is not being able to use accounts I used to use becuase their solution was to delete and block all of my info, including my email address and not allowing any orders associated with that address. Just a few days ago I found something online I needed and couldn't order it because they deleted my account and blocked anything using my email.
