Why does Monfils play so defensive? Big Serve, powerful of both wings but still prefers to be a counterpuncher. Weird...

I wish fans wouldn't get carried away this^^. I mean, what are you basing your conclusion on? A match that isn't finished? Two hard fought victories over Baghdatis and Tomic?

Rafa is one of those players that you can judge by any match he plays. If you've watched him for years, deciphering his level is quite easy. That doesn't mean he'll win Wimbledon, but he IS playing very well right now. If he was playing poorly we'd all be boo-hooing and haters would have a lot more to say.

But he's easily one of the fastest players on tour, if not the fastest when it comes to a full sprint. When you have wheels like he does, it can be tempting to keep using them.

Nadal is so much a better volleyer than he is given credit for...I think even he underestimates how good a volleyer he is

But isn't this kind of conclusion the same kind all us Rafa-fans jumped to during his first two sets against Sock at RG? I'm just saying, one step at a time.

He was playing VERY well then. Again, that has nothing to do with the next match. But he's proving right now he can still play on grass, that's all she was saying. Nothing wrong with being happy about a good match as it's happening.
