Superfeet - Useful Q&A

Some useful info from Superfeet Customer Service below!

Question: I play tennis and would like to ask which are the best Superfeet insoles that can replace the stock insoles inside my tennis trainers (Asics Gel Resolution 6). To give you a little background I am a neutral runner (don't pronate) and tend to land on the middle of my foot which causes me pain especially when playing tennis. I have a medium to high arch which is quite rigid and this is the area where I experience pain when I play tennis. I have looked over the website and the Green model seems like a good choice, the blue seems more suited to cleated/soccer trainers as they are thinner but there is also the orange for maximum shock absorption but it may be too thick. Could you provide more advice on which insoles are best for tennis and my type of foot etc as I really need the arch support.

Answer: Thank you for the inquiry. All Superfeet insoles are designed to do the same thing: provide your foot with support and allow it to function naturally. When outfitting for Superfeet, we consider two main factors first – how well does the insole fit inside your shoe and does it feel comfortable to YOU. Sure, there are other considerations, but this comes before all else – how well you feel wearing the insoles.

Without knowing the fit of your Asics or how much room it has to accommodate one of our insoles, I can at least narrow down you choices. GREEN and ORANGE are great options considering the shape of your arch and activities. BOTH are thicker insoles, so if you remove the factory liner of your shoes and have that room to spare, perfect!

Because both insoles are high profile and high volume, they may seem exactly the same, but there are some key features that set them apart. For one, GREEN is one of our widest insoles. If you have a wider heel or foot, or will be wearing a shoe with more room in the midfoot or toebox and need an insole to fill out those areas, GREEN is a great choice. If you have a more narrow heel, midfoot and forefoot, or if your shoes are a more narrow cut, ORANGE is a great option. It will provide you with the same shape and level of the support as the GREEN, but with less surface area.

Another distinct difference between the two is the forefoot foam. ORANGE was designed with high-impact, high-forefoot use activities in mind (like tennis) - the front foam provides shock absorption and added cushioning. GREEN utilizes a more dense foam for structure and strength – great for running, hiking, everyday activities, etc.

Should your shoes fit you perfectly as they are now and have little room to spare, you may find the BLUE to be a better option. Although it is a slightly thinner insole, it will still provide you with support and stability – without taking up as much room in the shoe as the GREEN and ORANGE. As far as materials go, it is more like the GREEN with a dense foam layer running the full length, unlike the “cushy” foam of the ORANGE in the forefoot.

And I like to include a few points of interest that will help you get the best fit possible:
  1. Your heel should fit snuggly in the heel cup, neither spilling over the edge nor swimming in the space.
  2. You should feel the arch lift more towards your heel and not directly underneath the crest of your arch. Superfeet cups your heel’s soft tissue (your body provides its own cushioning) and lifts your arch from the back like the supports of a bridge.
  3. Follow the trimming instructions located in the Owner’s Manual included in each Superfeet box. We recommend 2 mm, or a nickel’s width, between the end of the insole and the toe of the shoe to allow for proper foot-insole movement in the shoe. This limits the chance of friction caused by the foot moving over the insole instead of with it.
  4. **HONOR the recommended 1-2 week break-in period. Because your feet may not be accustomed to support, if you jump right into wearing them in your shoes for a long day, you may notice some foot fatigue, maybe even knee or hip fatigue. You should start out the first day with 1-2 hours of light activity and gradually build up to full-time wear/full activity. This will allow your body time to adjust instead of overtaxing it.**
  5. Superfeet has a 60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. This program gives you the chance to trim and try our insoles out and about for 60 days and exchange or return the product to your place of purchase. Make sure to hold onto your receipt and I always suggest checking your retailer’s return policy prior to purchase.

Thank you for posting this.

TW will refund your money back if you are not completely satisfied with the Superfeet insole.
This is a good opportunity to try a premium insole.

Thanks for the post. That was useful info.

The SF Greens are my favorite replacement insole. They do take up a good amount space but less space than some of the aftermarket insoles that are made for cushioning. Another thing I notice is that they are surprisingly light, so they won't slow you down as much as other insoles.

is there a superfeet that is supercushioned and with very good arch support also ?

I don't like feeding the troll but try cadence insoles. Very cushioned - good arch support. I used to use superfeet blue and these have way more cushioning. I know that some superfeet models have additional cushioning but that doesn't seem to be their focus.
