You're making me jealous... I'm dreaming of the time I can go skiing again... In Australia, the best we get is this frozen, icy, thin layered crap... compared to the rest of the world that enjoys real snow and enough of it to really ski.
But you guys have Whitsunday Islands! Who cares for snow when you can have such nice beaches, lol. It's on our bucket list and we have been told that coastline and waters beat even Maldives (one of our fav spots).

A few months ago I viewed the TC95 16x19's pop and launch angle as a curse. I stuck it out, embraced the launch and power, and now both are like my morning coffee--I can't do without them.

Have you hit the tecnifibre atp 305 xtc yet? I was able to hit my son's demo last week multiple times, and it's a switchable option for me, but I can't part ways with the TC95.

No, still haven't had a chance. Combination of factors, it should only be arriving in the mail today, and I'm away until the 26th Oct. But I'll be heading straight for the Post Office and the courts the very next day, weather permitting.

I don't mind the launch angle of the TC95... I can work with it and it is something that I need to just keep in the back of my mind. The issue that I'm finding is that because of the easy power and the launch angle, which can achieve easy depth, I find I almost lull myself into this play style where I hit balls of a fair pace and depth but the racquet head speed (due to the power) is lower. Therefore, when playing someone of a high standard with good timing, I'm finding that my ball is not powerful enough, they step up and crank the ball on the rise, and I find that I'm dealing with a hot fizzing ball that I have to run down and I'm on the back foot. I know it's just me, and that I have to wake myself up from the easy going/ consistent style I'm being lulled into (by the sheer capability of the racquet), and change the speed of my swing, get back to being more aggressive (like I would with other racquets), and start causing some serious pain to the opposition.

you can come to Canada and ski as much as you want....on the way back we will pack up all the snow for you to take home with you :)
this is 20 minutes from my house Silver Star Resort

Now you're just rubbing it in... :D;)

Several years ago my wife and I came and skied in the US and Canada. She said she has never seen a bigger smile on my face. We absolutely loved it. Due to complications with my dog (too long to discuss and unrelated to tennis), we have not been able to go on any holidays that are not driving distance away from the house (enough gear to fit the car). We're working on trying to find a solution, but it may be a long time before I see snow :(

When I can, I plan to come and visit Revelstoke, Silver Star, and many others... it will be a Tour de Force of the North American Ski world :):D They will have to carry me off the Mountains, as my legs will have become spent from exhaustion.

Lol happy to trade places and live in nice warm sunny with limited crap thin snow. I’d never miss snow for the rest of my life.

I know... it's always the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I think I prefer to live here for most of the year but make epic trips to the Northern Hemisphere ski resorts every year for several weeks... then back to warmer climates.

I live in Queensland, but a little lower than the Whitsundays... it is very nice.

hello again,

I have a K7 Red which I have tinkered with and I think I have reached a nice playing spec for me.

It is currently:
- 331g overall - strung with Bab Addition 16 at lower range tension, 4g in total at 2 7 10 o'clock, a Karakal replacement grip, a Pro's Pro Aqua Zorb OG and a dampener
- 330mm head balance (which i think is about 4 pts headlight)
- no idea about the swingweight, but I think it works for me as i have played a few sessions/sets with this setup so far.

I also have a V2 TC 100 16x19 (63RA 300g/325mm) - for some reason, I still can not find a setup that I liked. it is currently strung with the same Bab Addition string, with same grip setup. So both are around L3 in size.

Question - If I make the TC100 close to/same weight & balance of the K7, how will it play? Will it play similar or should i not bother and face the fact that they are two different sticks. It might be a silly question, but thought I'd ask before I start tinkering with it.

TIA

Hi there,

The 63 RA V2 TC100 come with higher swingweight stock than K7. The K7 comes with 280 swingweight unstrung and 63 RA V2 TC100 came with 295-305 range unstrung, if I am not mistaken. It will be very hard to bring down the swingweight of your TC100 racquets.

Best

Edit: just saw that you did add 4g on your K7. My bad. I am sure someone will be kind enough to provide TWU sheet which tells you where to put weight for wanted specs.

Yes sir. They are interchangeable. @ace18 and @topspn both received TC95 16x19 grommets when they ordered their K7 racquets along with spare grommet sets. Was further verified by a couple other posters as well.

Here is the link (you'll have to scroll down a bit):

Awesome! Thank you, my friend. The other poster that I mentioned in our correspondence has k7 grommets. He said they're interchangeable, and while I don't doubt him, I wanted to verify.

I've got an extended-length TC97 18x20 coming tomorrow. Hoping it plays like an extended length prestige, which is no longer sold.

Also own (2) TC100s already -- one 63RA & one 70RA

I will compare them once I've gotten a change to try them all out!

you are spot on with the review of ultra cable @Carreau as much as I like that string I had the same 2 issues with UC and Blue Rock and power strings, both strings are heavy (specially blue rock) which adds 2-3 sw weight to the my already high sw racket, both are hard on the soft Angell grommets, my choices are 1= Silver string 2= Scorpion 3= Red Ghost 4= Mosquito Bite

More I play with it - more I like it. Control is awesome. I do not want to cut it. :D It might be that I'll buy a reel and bunch of grommets later on. However, still want to try a few more strings before deciding - Black Code, Focus HEX and Tour Bite.

My 27.5" TC97 18x20 does indeed play quite similar to my 27.5" Prestige MP (Pro Stock TGT or whatever, not a PT57). Same specs for both. I think you will enjoy the Angell, have fun!

Very nice. What are your specs?

I asked him the same thing :p

I got the Angell V3 TC100 70RA, 320g, 10pts hl, Grip B, Synthetic Grip & Overgrip

I strung it with Klip Armour Natural Gut 16G mains / Lux Alu Power Soft Crosses 16L @53lb using Sergetti stringing method.
Also added 1g of lead at 12.

Ends up at 345g, 336SW, 31.6 Bal (-8.5hl), Recoil Weight 178, MGR/I 20.6

I fully expected that I would need to add some weight @7 inches to bring the MGR/I up (after reading the thread), but decided to just try it first on the advice of another poster here that said to just go by feel.
Thankfully I took that advice because it plays perfect.
I'm not changing a thing.

I'll be selling a lot of rackets and strings though!

So anything we tell you won’t have proper context. Of course they are different frames but what is it that you feel you’re missing from TC100? For me for instance, a multi string wouldn’t work at all on either frame and especially so on TC100 that needs a decent feeling but control string

I've strung my V3 TC100 (310gr, 315mm, 63RA) with Luxilon 4g in the main and Yonex Tour 850 pro in the crosses and it's a pretty working setup: great control for a powered frame with the stiffness of 4g softened by the multi string.

I sent you a PM you can reply the PM in your inbox with current balance, total weight (if you added any extra weight to head, tail etc..)

I have two 95s in 16x19 at 63 ra and similar 100. Had a 97 that I just couldn't groove with and I'm still tinkering with a K7, but haven't really felt comfortable with it yet. I'd be interested for someone to compare a 95 in 63 to one in 70.

Thanks.
The TC100 felt “lumpy” and the ball isn’t as predictable as the K7, either landed too short or too long.
Saleem has kindly sent me some suggestions for me to try on the TC100, so I will give it a go and see.
Reason for going with multi is because of the elbow, and it is easier on my arms when I used to play with other rackets.

Alright boys... we finally caved in.
I did it.
I’m buying 2 vantage 95s 16x19 from a user on here.
I gotta say... it took a lot for me to get here. I was always most interested in the Angells.. and now I’ll finally have TWO. I just had to get a little Yonex in (and now out) of my system, and played the first Babolat racquet I’ve ever enjoyed in the PSTGT (keeper).
Really... I can’t wait!! Especially since I sprained my knee during my match last weekend and I’m recovering from that, so at least I have more to look forward to

All went well yesterday. Back on courts in 4 to 6 weeks. I do have considerable atrophy in my quad on my bad knee so lots of PT and weight training over the next year to regain equal strength in both quads.
You’ll get there buddy! Positive outlook and training will get you back good as new. Glad to hear it went well yesterday.

That's great news! Rehab is very important but you will be back to top form/shape in no time. Just stay positive and take it easy in the beginning to not stress anything out. Best of luck, you got this!

Wow - that’s all I can say! What a transformation!

I almost gave up on the TC100, but now I will definitely be spending more time with it. Everything just work now.

The K7 didn’t even come out of the bag today.

Amazing! Thank you saleem, amazing suggestion.
I am glad I was able to help you out with your TC100 @esm I have followed @travlerajm thread on this topic for long time and I was lucky to come across @RanchDressing and @zalive who were kind enough to answer 100s of my questions, all credits go to those guys and I am happy to share what I learned.

Phew even black night couldn’t help out. Gale winds doing whatever they wanted with the ball while we simply tried to chase and see if we could smack a ball. We gave up after 20mins so hope tomorrow is better but by next week may not be able to have outdoor tennis anymore for a while. More comedy then tennis today

I was trying out a demo today but managed to get in about 20 mins with a TC95 strung with Black Night @46lbs. It was my favorite string on a PSTGT and it sure carries over to the TC95 very nicely. A predictable comfortable response and heavy ball and looking forward to keep hitting with this setup.

Hey no worries, one of these times we will find time for a hit. Black Night as Saleem mentioned is made by Tier 1, a hexagonal slick surfaced copoly. It has just the right balance of power and control in my view. A very consistent and predictable response with nice ball pocketing and good longevity. It normally sells for $8.95 and free shipping over $25 but it seems it just went on sale for $6.95 so I just snatched a bunch more. I have only played the 16g which is 1.28 mm. For me, fantastic string especially at it’s price point.

how does the black knight plays in tc95 @topspn ?
Like I said, in the TC95 only got about 20mins today since I was trying to play test another frame. However a very auspicious 20min with pretty heavy balls and same high predictably. Comfort was no issue at all and volleys felt very point and shoot. I’ll describe more as I hit with this combo. On the PSDTGT, i played maybe 3 string jobs with BK and just loved it.
