What are you on about? I've said she was unethical, but this board is filled with bitter members flaming others for pointing out the truth.



You cannot speak for every Sharapova fan, so your post is one-sided, and conveniently forgets the extremist Sharapova fans (on this board) that have used her as part of a long time attack on other players. Don't pretend that this board's history does not contain much evidence of that.



Ohhhh, so an act many years in the past--or that other might be guilty of the same, it no longer matters? That's the implication. Try telling that to certain TW members who routinely attack other players--like Nadal--for minor incidents with Toni--from early in his career. Did you forget that...or was it expedient to toss in an attack on Nadal as smoke & mirrors to defend Sharapova?

I've been a member here since the very beginning and one thing that is surely missing is Sharapova fans, especially 'extreme' ones. Just scan the pro-Fed/Rafa/Joker/Serena/La Bouce/Halep threads and compare to the pro-Masha ones. Plenty of people, including me, criticize her (all the time, I may add) for her screaming, inability to find a game plan against Serena and overall bland, one-dimensional game and most fans (and even many detractors) admire her beauty, poise and fighting spirit which are, frankly, undeniable. No offense, but you're really selective in your reading and interpreting of other people's opinions.

And Toni Nadal has done what Yuri Sharapov has done times 1,000. Please. Yuri Sharapov has for a long time not even been court-side while Tio Toni continues to direct proceedings from his players' box.

Head to extend their contract with Sharapova:

MARIA Sharapova’s racquet sponsor says it will look to extend her contract, breaking stride from three of her backers who have suspended or plan to end their endorsement deals with her.

The Head sports equipment company said it was “proud to stand behind’’ Sharapova, who announced on Monday that she had tested positive to the drug meldonium and hoped her suspension would not be career-ending.

Within 24 hours, Nike, Porsche and Tag Heuer all said they were either suspending or would let lapse her endorsement contracts.

“Now and into the future, we look forward to working with her and announcing new sponsorships in the weeks and months ahead,’’ a statement from Head said.

“Maria has earned the benefit of the doubt and we are extending it to her. We know that for more than a decade Maria has been a role model and a woman of great integrity. ’’

Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam champion, will not contest her guilt at an upcoming tennis anti-doping committee hearing but her lawyer has indicated they will press for a ban much shorter than a four-year maximum period.

They will pursue a “no significant fault’’ contingency in the World Anti-Doping Agency code and also argue that she had been used meldonium over 10 years for medical reasons before the drug was added to the WADA banned list on January 1.

Cheating is cheating. Whether one commits acts of cheating 50 times or 1,000 times, it is cheating, and an embraced, calculated mindset just as corrupt.

There is cheating and there is stepping over a line that is arbitrarily drawn for political rather than scientific reasons.

You have no evidence that the drug concerned has any performance enhancement effect. Or, rather, there's evidence either way.

WADA is engaging in a politically motivated campaign against Russian athletics and now Sharapova. All this is well known.

As of now, Russian athletics is banned from the Rio Olympics and, like Carter, Obama is using sport to send a political message.

This is such a normal part of Cold War politics that I assumed everyone was suitably educated. Fischer-Spassky, anyone?

The real prize at the end of it is to get FIFA to take the World Cup off Russia and they're winning on that one so far as Blatter will tell you.
