TW Reviews: Head Youtek Innegra Radical Racquets

Great set of reviews and thanks for including the Radical OS. I'm still mostly using it after many years and it was interesting to see the comments compared to the other models. The new Rad Pro really looks worth a try but I won't be surprised if I still play my best tennis with the OS.

Carol botched the review for the midplus. She thinks this racket has higher swing weight than her current stick sixone95 (330-340).

Can Granville give a review of the Midplus frame please?

thanks

^ at 3pts. head light, I'm sure Carol feels her 6.1 95 is more maneuverable, as do I.

Again, good reviews gang! Glad to see the OS got some demo love.

I'm sorry my comment was for the youtek IG Prestige midplus that she also did a place test on. I didn't see that it was the radicals on this review.

Our review scores are not based on data but rather playtesters' individual perceptions. The reviews were done by different playtesters, hence the difference in scores. How a racquet fits each tester's game will also affect how each racquet is scored.

Jason:

You tested both the Prestige S and new Radical MP. Which one do you prefer and why? I had been a prestige MP player when I was younger but now middle aged 4.0 with bad knees and have kept going back to the Youtek Radical MP (although customized) even though I have had many playtests over the last 2-3 years. I play both singles and doubles these days but more doubles.

That is a tough question to answer because I really enjoy them both! I'd probably give the slight edge to the Prestige S. Two main reasons: it's a bit more powerful/more spin friendly than the Radical. And two, I like the stiffer, more solid response that the Prestige S offers.

Thanks, Jason. Great reviews and it sounds like the prestige S is worth a demo.
Also, did you notice any discenible difference between the Youtek and IG versions of the Radical MP?

I'd love to try the radical pro with a leather grip and overgrip to make it more headlight. Seems like it would be really solid with nice pop. Especially after disliking the new ps blx 95 as much as I did

Slightly off topic - but Spencer scored a wicked looking moustache for Christmas!

I was thinking that maybe the reviews were done in November and the guys grew moustaches for Movember (but I may be projecting my own errors onto them!).

Hey TW,

How are the grip sizes on the IG Radical Pro & MP running? The grips seemed a bit large on the IG Speeds compared to the Youtek version. Are they true to size or a bit larger like some of the Babolats?

I've just wondering the same, I am radical mp youtek player (with some lead), and was wondering what the difference between youtek and Ig version is?

I am very happy with my youtek models, but as always you wonder how the new model plays.
Only one thing is a bit considering on IG model, the low power level that is the reason I switch from Microgel to youtek.
Now the question is to buy some more youtek, or wait for IG model....

I'll take them out sometime this week, hit them side by side and get back to you. :)

Hi Jason,
I need little help if it is not a problem.
I would like to know the difference between radical mp youtek and new Ig version.
I am playing with youtek and I would like to buy two more youtek frames. My question is to wait on Ig model or to buy youtek.
I'm very pleased with youtek and how it preforms, i haves to lead them up for more feel, but the spec are perfect for my game.
As i see from review the difference would be only low power level on Ig ? because youtek have the power level just right.
thanks.

Hi Jason, and thanks for the wonderful TW's review programs. I need your help on this: I strung my Youtek Radical MP with Tecnifibre Pro Red Code 16g at 55 lbs and my Youtek IG Radical MP with Luxilon ALU Power Rough at 55 lbs, and of course the Pro Red Code string is much stiffer than the Power Rough. When i tried to hit hard balls from the baseline, the Youtek Radical MP is a whole lot flexier than the Youtek IG Radical MP, is that true? From TW's specs, the stiffness for Youtek Radical MP is 59, and the new Youtek IG Radical MP is 62, and is it true that the new Youtek IG Radical MP has stiffness of 62? I happen to have the I Radical MP, Youtek Radical MP, and Youtek IG Radical MP in my bag to hit; the Youtek Radical MP is way too flexy, and next is the Youtek IG Radical MP, and then the I Radical MP. All and all, the I Radical MP is the least flexy racquet in these 3. Thanks for your analysis.

I loved the I radical MP. Ten, do you recall the stiffness on the I rad?

I took the IG Radical Pro out for a hit today. First, the paintjob to me looks fantastic in person. Great detailing. What TW said about the power, I agree with. The IG Rad Pro has a lot of plow/pop. I think I hit some of the heaviest forehands I've hit in a while (after adjusting the first 5-10 min cause I was spraying everything long) and makes a nice sound at contact (I used a dampener). It has great feel and is very comfortable (not 1 bit of arm discomfort). Serving is nice as well be it flat or slice served. The racket, in my opinion, plays more flexible than 62 rating suggests.

I really only have 2 issues with the racket. The balance is not headlight enough for my tastes and the swingweight is pretty high for me. 325 is my max pretty much. Makes the stick pretty sluggish at times and made me late on more forehands and backhands than I'd like. I know that I can wrap lead around the handle, so I will try that if I get a chance.

The second issue is that for me, the stick is too flexible. My taste in rackets is more firm/stiff nowadays and really flexible rackets are just more difficult for me to slice with and to hit my topspin 1HBH. Makes it hard for me to get a good slice and harder for me to gauge directional control. Can I get more used to the racket and this become less of an issue? Sure, but I also just prefer a firmer/stiffer feel.

The only racket I still want to try is the new prestige pro. I thought the youtek had so much potential, but fell short. This new one seems to fix its deficiencies (from what I read, but the proof is in the hitting).

Definitely a stick worth checking out, but the balance may put people off who are used to more headlight sticks like I am.

Thanks for your review. You were saying that the racquet's balance is not enough head light for you, right? Could you please check to see if there is any head light at all or even balance? From Head website, the racquet is 10.9 oz unstrung, so it will be 11.5 oz strung. If a 11.5 oz strung racquet has way too high swing weight, 330, then where;s the massive swing weight come from?

Hi TW playtesters, can anyone compare this the rad mp/ mp pro with the BLX Blade and the Prince Tour 100 18x20?

thanks!

It is headlight, around 3 points. It is definitely not an even balance. It's just that I'm used to rackets that are 6-9 points headlight.

Did you try the Youtek version? Is it comparable balance or less head heavy that that one?

The IG is more HL than the Youtek. My youteks were 33.75 cm balance strung and the SW was 345. The IG's come around quicker and they're also lower on static weight.

I noticed the IG Radical MP has the mid tension listed at 52 lbs, which is lower than the previous models. I own a MG Radical MP which i string at 55lbs (mid tension 57lbs). Does that mean I should string below 52 for IG Radical MP if I want to get the same power level?
