To do the loops and high level shots for table tennis, the whole body is needed to generate the spin (the forward hand form is pretty much the same as tennis, even swing length). You take longer swings if you have time and want to put more spin and power on the ball (true for both), the follow through is a must in both as well.
The only exception might be the back hand depending on your grip in TT and your stroke for tennis(one handed or two handed). For handshake grips (TT) and one handed backhands (Tennis), the motions are similar (more snap in TT).
