Just thought it might be nice to see some shots of where people play. Here is my local club:

We have about 30 members and I tend to play there about once a week. We have two courts. The eastern court (far side of the photo) gets more sun, so tends to play a bit faster. Unfortunately a root from the fig tree runs under the service box at one end, causing a slight rise in the grass and lots of fun and games when trying to return serve.

I also play regularly at the major tennis complex in our area. They have about 30 carpet courts and run a pretty good weeknight competition. They also host most of the major tournaments in the region, which is nice.

I like the level of play, and the guys who run it are nice, but it’s a much more commercial operation - very much focused around the pro shop and junior clinics.

What about you guys?

I’ve never seen bubbles in person, let alone played in them. How do they work? Is it just a semi-rigid tent over outdoor courts, or are they pressurised in some way?

Does it affect court hire costs in winter?

- they take'em off in the summer
- in the winter - Constant air-pumping from the inside.
- massively expensive ($40-$90 / hr)

@ChaelAZ - what is the little court with the amphitheatre-style seating on the right hand side of the pic?

I think it just looks small because it has so much court around it, but that is our main stadium court. We play on it often Sundays. Sucks for practice really because you have to chase balls around so much. Great for matches though because you don't have tight fences to run into.

No wonder east coast NY folks don't like small talk and like to play fast. Gotta get your money's worth there! I pay for both players, with two cans of Pro Penn balls and it's only $10 during the day and $12 at night for 1.5 hours.

NYC ain't a great place to find courts ... but it's easy to find partners :)
