I have a picture of my son with Nadal in the year 2004. At that time Nadal was about 1.80 m (5'11" ) tall and he was 17 years old. He was already a strong guy and his weight was around 75 - 78 Kgs. Right now, four years later, according to atptennis.com, he is 1.85 m (6' 1"), 85 Kgs (188 lbs.)
So he grew 5 cm (2") and increased his weight in 8 - 10 Kg (about 20 lbs.).
Is that unusual at that age? I don't think so.
I can't understand what's the deal with Nadal. He is a strong player with great legs for tennis. His strokes, full of topspin makes feel Federer uncomfortable. But Nadal is far from being invencible. His main achievement are his victories over Federer. These matches put him in the headlines. His flamboyant game is very attactive to fans and media. So it can't be real. There has to be something wrong because he's too good. Doping? steroids? There has to be a reason for this incredible physical development. I'll bet Nadal is taking banned substances......please...that's stupid!!!
My son, who is in this picture , in the same period grew 12" and is about 15 Kgs. heavier. Steroids? Absolutely not. He eats like an animal and practices tennis 3 hours per day.
By the way, the same day of this picture, Nadal defeated Federer 6/3 6/3 at the Nasdaq 100 Open.

Regarding Puerta, I wish he would return to the élite of tennis. I really liked his game. He commited a mistake, same as Chela, Cañas and other argentinian players. Frankly I don't think that these players needed that substances to success in tennis. I think they took an easier way to recover from injuries. It was just stupid, not an anti-argentinian conspiracy.
P.S. To the non spanish speaking members: "www" means world wide web, globalization the whole world, different countries and cultures. USA in not the navel of the world and english is not the only important language. As a latino I'm proud of my mother language and I'm doing an effort to speak and write in english. Maybe I'm not Shakespeare but at least I'm trying to do my best.
Writing in spanish is not in any way a lack of respect to the forum.
Best regards, saludos, shalom, salaam, ciao, aufwidrsehen.....
