Its right up there. Just mentioned those that came straight from the top of my head. Originally Jackie Chan was offered the role that went to Wesley Snipes.
Wasn't Jackie Chan doing his own stunts super-late in the game? Recall an interview in which he discussed breaking nearly every bone in his body over the years making these flicks.

Cool stuff.

Jackie has been breaking his body from the start. Have you seen his stuff in Police Story? I also remember Rumble In The Bronx, where he jumped off a moving boat and broke his ankle. There was also a scene in Jackie Chan's First Strike, where he tries to slide through the steps of a ladder and smacks his head and gets a concussion. He still does them wherever he can.

I didn't even see the peak stuff. Bruce Lee has always been a superhuman figure to me, first and foremost. But then I learned there was this funny kung fu dude, and checked out some of his stuff. Few of them from late '90's, early 2000's.

Concussion no good, but resilience and longevity? Yessir. :)

If you like Bruce Lee, check out the Ip Man movies. There are four of them, really good stuff, that tell the story of Bruce Lee's master, Ip Man, Bruce comes into it in the latter movies, but it is really good stuff.

As for Jackie, he is in Enter The Dragon for a moment, gets hammered by Bruce Lee, and was saying it was the highlight of his movie career. But seriously, if you get a chance, watch the Police Story movies, and also another great one is City Hunter. I was watching his first movie made in the States a few weeks back, The Battle Creek Brawl, from 1980, that was fun movie to watch.

The split yes. On the side of the trucks, no. That is added in.
You 100% sure it was edited in? Not doubting your authority here, but I was under the impression that the thing was authentic.

Here's Volvo's statement in the video header:

"Watch Jean-Claude Van Damme carry out his famous split between two reversing trucks. Never done before, JCVD says it's the most epic of splits -- what do you think? Please share & comment! This live test was set up to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of Volvo Dynamic Steering -- a world first technology that makes the Volvo FM easier to drive. Filmed in Spain on a closed-off landing field at sunrise in one take."

"Wanted: dead or alive" with Rutger Hauer with the famous "f.uck the bonus" scene when he activates the grenade and blows up terrorist's head while having him tied. It's almost impossible to see such scenes in today's movies due to the rules of political correctness.

Yes, even I thought it was real, but even that behind the scenes thing wasn't real. I remember Van Damme talking about it on a radio podcast. He did the splits for real, but they were not moving trucks.

The "I'll Be Back" line only happened because Cameron insisted on it. Arnie wanted to say "I Will Be Back". But Cameron said no, because he wanted to show that The Terminator was picking up the local style of talking.

T2 gets considerable ink in an old DFW essay I read recently. :)

Good top 10

Predator is unique movie, because it is actually three small movies made into one movie. The first part is a traditional action movie, the second part is a horror slasher movie, the final part is a survival movie. Perfectly blended together to make it one of the most re-watchable movies ever IMO.

Recently I saw in the following succession - Hamburger Hill, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Good Morning Vietnam and then watched First Blood. Watching those movies first had an incredible impact on my experience watching First Blood again, because I felt I had spent a lot of time with Rambo in Vietnam and had a deeper connection to understanding his PTSD. That scene where he breaks down at the end seems just that much more powerful.

Question - Which is the better Mel Gibson franchise?

Mad Max or Lethal Weapon?

I'm going personally with Mad Max. Mad Max 2 The Road Warrior has often been voted as the greatest action movie of all time in some polls of readers and was very influential in many areas of pop culture. Though Lethal Weapon is the ultimate buddy cop movie.

Going Mad Max.

My recollection of Lethal Weapon is a lotta cornball one-liners.

Mad Max came off as a more fresh concept.

Mad Max was so cutting edge, it inspired so many things. A lot of manga and anime in Japan was heavily influence by the punk gangs on bikes, helped with the creation of Fist of the North Star, as well as inspiring the cyber punk collection of manga and anime, including Akira, Cyber City Oedo, and even Ghost in the Shell, which in itself inspired the matrix movies.

Also, the legendary wrestling tag team The Road Warriors were complete rip offs of the villains from Mad Max.

Have you seen the 2015 Mad Max - Fury Road with Tom Hardy? That is good movie in its own right.

Machete needs some love on this thread :)

That is some epic stuff there. Funny how a fake trailer that was added onto the Rodriguez and Tarantino Grindhouse double got turned into a movie itself. This came out the same time as Expendables. Stallone was actually going to getting Trejo into his movie, but then this came up and he pulled out to do this. There is a sequel to this also, and then kind of a knock off movie he made called Bullet - that's worth watching if you get time. :)

Absolutely. Cultural touchstone.

I don't know enough about the origins of the actual story line.

Referenced all over the place, though.

Remember Dr. Dre & Co. with "California Love"?

Still waiting for Machete Kills...in Space!

(Junk) Food for Thoughts: it is highly plausible that The Spy Kids movie is part of the Machete Universe.

Dre and Tupac did California Love on the set of third Mad Max movie, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

The whole post apocalyptic stuff really started with Mad Max, did you know that even the horror movie Saw and many such horror movies and books were influenced by the first Mad Max movie? The scene where he handcuffs a guy to a car and says he has about 5 minutes to live, but if he saws off his leg, he will be able to escape on time.

Mad Max, combined with Escape From New York really changed movies, introduced this new type of world to play in where criminals ruled and the heroes were all doing questionable things.

Yeah, me too. LOL

Well, Rodriguez might have his own universe going, where not only you have Machete, and Spy Kids, you also have the El Miriachi Franchise happening, kind of like how Tarantino has one big universe.

One of the coolest intros to a franchise. To me the career defining movie of Kurt Russell's career that set him ablaze. There would be no such movies as Tombstone, Big Trouble in little China etc without this one.

If you look at the main poster of this movie, you will see the head of the Statue of Liberty. Now, in the actual movie, the head is not lying on the street, the way it is shown in the poster behind Kurt's character. However, if any of you have seen that monster movie Cloverfield, there is a part where the head is seen being thrown into the streets of NYC. That was a direct tribute to Escape from New York...basically saying the heroes need to escape from New York because of the monster that has arrived.
