PSGD 16 is amazing

I have been stringing my racquet with hybrids of pro hurricane and PSGD 17. The PSGD 17 broke recently dead in the center (crosses) and then I got it restrung with full PSGD 16. Now these strings are just a joy. It took me a few minutes to get used to it, but the precision, power, and feel was just superior to my old string job in every way. The best thing is that it's very cheap

Tisk tisk tisk. PSGD doesnt play too well and worst of all it breaks in about 3 hours of warm up type play

plays well yes....amazing, well that is a stretch. I agree with Jason though, they are not a long lived string. Even if you are not a string breaker.

I think Original Prince Synthetic Gut is the BEST all around string. The texture in PSGD just ruins the feel (for me), however, it is still a good string.

Does anyone else have a comment or two on whether PSGD 16 gauge or 17gauge is better?

Like the 16g a lot better. Feels more solid.

Definitely agree, although PSGO outplays the duraflex by miles in every category except durability.

I actually find PSGD to be very durable; perhaps it's because my racquet is 18x20. I'm a string breaker and it takes me at least 25 hours to break it in my radicals, whereas on my ps85s I would break it in under 10.

i thought psgd was pretty stiff when i used it as a cross with poly. i don't like it as a full job because it moves way too much for me. but it is a good string, just not great.

PSGO is a better overall string than PSGD except for durability. Of course this is my opinion. There are plenty of people who like stiff playing strings which is why polys are so popular these days. I have only been able to like one poly and that is the old Prince Polygut which is discontinued. Prince makes another cheap poly to take its place. The Duraflex compared to the Original does play stiffer. If you need a more durable syn gut then try something like Wilson Stamina or Gamma Marathon DPC.

For the price PSGD is tough to beat. I never break strings (plus the fact I string) I usually cut it out before it breaks. Also if you are a big fan check out the Klipper Syn Gut Ultra Fiber...it's the same sting and you can get a reel for $32.50

anyone tried PRO SUPEX "Spiral Flex" claims to be a clone of PSGD but more durable...cheaper too...might get one reel to string for other people

PSGD and PSGO are fantastic strings....they offer the best of everything imo...if they lasted me more than 2 hours I would not be using anything else..

I've strung quite a few rackets with it for guys that used the Prince Syn Gut DF and they keep coming back to me to string and I've never had anyone say they didn't like it. Everyone has felt it played very well.

And to be honest I have strung rackets with PSGD and the Klipper string at the same time and played with then and didn't notice any difference feel wise. The only thing I do is depending on how I'm feeling I'll use a full set of Pro Red Code or use some type of Hybrid with a poly main and PSGD or Klipper in the crosses. Right now I'm using the Red Code.

I've since swapped out Gosen OG Micro in favor of the the Spiral Flex in poly hybrid setups. Clients have been pleased with the swap and reporting better durability.
I've also heard that PS Spiral Flex is very similar to PSGD but can't confirm for sure since it's been ages since I've playtested a full synthetic gut setup.
