more threads on Pro supex

Yes this is another thread on pro supex strings.

One of my questions is on the premier ace. how much more stiff is it to Big ace and also in comparison to power.

With all due respect in reading the PSUSA home page you will see numerous grammatical and spelling errors. This is not the type of attention to detail that inspires any confidence. The folks running the site are obviously not the sharpest tools in the shed. I have to question if they have any idea how the strings they promote really play? If they did, they would know the Premier Ace plays softer than the Big Ace.

That said, Premier Ace is made in Taiwan while Big Ace is made in Germany. They come from different factories. At the same time the site refers to them as siblings. Yah...whatever. Bottom line is if you play with one set of each you will find, and I GUARANTEE, that the Premiere Ace is the more comfortable and softer playing of the two.

According to USRSA testing, here are the stiffness ratings:

Big Ace 1.22: 225
Big Ace 1.25: 234
Premier Ace 1.25: 234
Big Ace 1.28: 238
Premier Ace 1.30: 240

So I guess Premier Ace is stiffer than Big Ace? You must be in love with Pro Supex unless the people in the USRSA are as dumb as Pro Supex people

old coach,

Have you played with both? I have. I can tell you that the Premier Ace is softer. The USRSA data measures the same diameter string at the same stiffness. Big deal. That is a measurement taken by dropping a ball on a 6" - 8" single piece of tensioned string. It does not measure the stringbed stiffness nor does it take into account how the string actually performs in match play.

Also, I do not believe anyone is dumb...I just do not trust the attention to detail I see on the PS site, nor do I understand how anyone who has played with both can say the Big Ace is softer because that is not the same experience as I had with these strings.

Premier Ace is quite a bit stiffer than Big Ace...its also very low powered.

Yes I have used both strings...over 20 times each.

Premier Ace hurts my arm...I find Big Ace very comfortable.

STAN:

I agree with Nick on this one. Premier Ace does feel stiffer. Maybe you are looking in a different book.

Also, I think the trick is how stiff the string feels during playing not when you touch it. And Premier Ace feels stiff during play while Big Ace would feel more comfortable during play. So maybe the Pro Supex people mean that during play, Premier Ace is stiffer ...

There are numerous thing on this "test" that aren't right.

Nick,

I have a question; how do you compare Crossfire with Pro Supex Big Ace Micro (the one you use in your Fischer)?

thanks! Javier

Hi,

The full Big Ace Micro feels very crisp and responsive. The full Micro has more feel than the Ashaway hybrid. They are very different strings...the kevlar is stiffer and grips the ball really well. Because micro is so thin it grips the ball great too but in a different way. I feel the crossfire at 48 had more dwell time than the full micro at 56. I just love the feel I get with micro at net! Very different string combo's really...

If you are looking for a crisp, responsive poly with a load of feel micro is well worth a look!

thanks again.

I think there is one thing that you stated "dwell time" is what makes stick to these strings. I did not find this characteristic in any other except in Ashaway Dynamite (in the same range of budget) but it's annoying the way they move.
Of course Dynamite is different but pockets the ball fantastic.

Premier Ace is definitely stiffer than Big Ace. The important measurement is initial tension loss. If I can recall off the top of my head, Big Ace loses about 18.6-20.5lbs post-stringing without hitting. Permier Ace loses about 17.2-19.4lbs.
