more pro no 1 thoughts
Well, despite the, er, 'advances' of 1 or 2 different frames in the last few days, I had another very positive experience this afternoon with the new racquet... I think it's surely a matter of time before my signature states 'Fischer Pro No. 1 (320, red & black)'... Anyway, today I got into a bit of a groove (for once), and won, I think it was, 6-0, 6-2, 6-3... all right, my opponent wasn't exactly Novak Djokovic (and neither am I for that matter... more like his Granny probably!
) - anyway, I regained some basic form this afternoon, and instrumental in that was the new frame...
Some further random thoughts on the Pro No 1:
.
great pop... this really struck me today, and especially as I'd removed a lot of lead and was concerned with this aspect. There was no need... stock weight this frame has a lovely power level. Serves were dynamic and had enough oomph. Groundies, ditto. Combined with it's excellent control and precision, it's a real pleasure to hit out with this stick... and that's forgetting to name-check something else that's intrinsic to understanding this rod...
.
the feel... Fischer's have a special reputation for feel and feedback and responsiveness, etc, and it's a reputation that I now fully understand. Put it this way, yesterday I wanted to hit with a different frame, specifically a frame that I felt was pretty similar to my Pro No 1... So out of nearly 20 or so racquets the one I opted for - and the rod that reminded me of the Pro No 1 - was... my old PT630.
.
manouverability... unlike with my last main frame (PSC 6.1), and several other higher SW, higher static weight, or slightly head heavier racquets I've used before, this is doing exactly what I wanted: low pick ups, last milli-second wrist turns, serving fluidly, etc; basically, my mobility levels have seriously improved... as is backed up by my UE count which has RADICALLY gone down all of a sudden.
.
All courter rod... as I've said before, this 320 version of the Pro No 1 really suits this kind of game IMO. It's certainly got me coming in more (and trying some of that 'up in the air stuff'!), but equally, I'm very comfortable indeed with this from the b-line (which is what I'm used to.)
Finally, I'd add this... For me, this frame can do everything very well indeed AND it feels bloody fantastic!
BTW, Respect due to Nick for great string job with the hybrid - I really noticed and liked how it was performing today... bite, power, feel - very tasty indeed.
