Hi folks,

I'm currently cearching for new frames and I can have good price on a couple of PT 630 Trysis 280. I'm a S&V with heavy spin and slice on groundies and serves, do you think it can fit my game ?

Thanks !

No, it will fit your game horribly, and you will absolutely hate it more than anything you've ever played with before or ever will again. However, you should give me the info on how to purchase these frames. ;)

Honestly, I don't think it would be the best for your game, if you really love that spin, you might look for a more open string pattern. Seriously, hit with a Prestige series and feel the spin from those, if that's enough for you, then jump on it, if not, look for something spinnier. Also, these aren't light frames, so you might worry about that. Also, what level are you? Do you have videos of your game? I was serious about that buying info though. :D

PT280 is very good for slices though. Some say it is not very good for volleys although I don't see why. It is at least more forgiving than iprestige mid and pc600

i have been playing with the head PT 280 for over 10 years. it's one of the best rackets (IN MY OPINION)!

i had about 4 (made in austria) and got 4 more (designed in austria) to keep in my arsenal.

i've tried the new prince, yonex and wilson as well as head and my preference is definitely favorable to the head.

the PT 280 is definitely a "players racket." whoever said it was LIGHT that's not really true! it's closer to 11 oz if not a bit more than 11 oz. it really allows and requires you to SWING OUT! generate your own pace... so if you have or want a large swing style it will suite you perfect.
i hit lots of groundies and a lot of spin on the forehand and slice my backhand a lot. it works beautiful and i haven't lost a match in 4.5 yet! haha

i'm thinking about switching to the new MG Prestige though and will be selling my Head PT 280's if i do so. PM me if any of you guys are interested!

The 630/280 gets a lot of criticism about it's ease of use at net. I don't really understand this though.

BTW - the 630 and 280 are not the same thing supposedly. I've heard the 630 described as a lot softer. That may or may not be what you're looking for if you serve and volley a lot.

It's a bit over 12 oz.

I think the majority of people who use the 630/280 feel this way. I don't feel that way but I can see where people may not like that flexy hoop feel and the sluggish nature of the frame.

bringing an old topic back to life :) haven't posted on here in a while...

anyway, i play with a PT280 and i do agree, i don't like it so much on the volleys as the groundies.

if i can describe my game, it'd probably be like gonzales, big forehand and no backhand.. lol jk

but it does feel GREAT slamming balls from the ground with a semi western/western grip on the forehand.

but on the volleys, i can't describe it... it doesn't have enough POP and therefore it feels underpowered and under controlled.

i do need to work on volleys a lot more.. but i've used the new radical Pro and wow what a huge difference on the feel (in volleys)!
