Okay, so basically i just looked at the NTRP rankings today and i would be about the level of 4.0 maybe 4.5. I really want to go to college but i dont have the talent to go to a division one.. i primarily play doubles and do about 11 tournaments a year.. i really want to go to a d2 college so what would be the best route to go about to make it to montana state

C'mon. If you have the internet and the intelligence to go to college, you certainly have the ability to do some research on your own. There are LOTS of sites that explain what to do, including some excellent posts by Coach Carter in this forum.
I'll give you two suggestions to kickstart your research:

Finally, be aware that they have 6 players listed on their roster, 3 of whom are foreigners. Of the 3 Americans, two of them are pretty strong players - stronger, on paper at least, than you. If you really want to play tennis in college, it'd probably be best not to limit it to one school.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with COME ON!. You might be able to play at some really low-tier schools, but I know what level you're at; i played both your no. 1 and 2 doubles teams in districts (beat no. 2 pretty handily, close match against #1) and I can assure you that you aren't a 4.5, MAYBE a 4.0, but much closer to 3.5. Joe lee on your team is about a strong 4.0 (he's improved quite a bit this summer to, I saw him play at a few tournaments).
Are you playing in champs tournaments yet, and if so, what results are you getting? What year of school are you going into?

haha, I see you probably found my USTA rankings? Just so you know, 6 of those matches were played with a sprained, unusable left wrist :lol: (1 of which I won, rofl)

I used to hit out at sprinker 3-5 years ago, but I try to avoid it now.
I'm not sure it's within NCAA guidelines for me to give you personal information such as the above, especially since I'm not even 17 yet.

I am sorry that you are avoiding Sprinker. There have been a lot of changes there and the people who are teaching there now are a lot different than a few years ago. As a matter of fact I am teaching there as well as coaching out at GRCC.

Well... I might not continue avoiding it. Gill was running the show the last time I popped by (probably last winter), which I liked. I kind of skewed off from sprinker when a pretty well known teaching pro left in a rather heated exit, I believe 4 years ago? I've lost count now. You probably know what I'm talking about, but if you don't I wouldn't ask about it, as things are still quite bitter.
Do you have a group of HS or champs players out there right now?
Oh, and I believe you know my doubles partner from last year, Tony Rowley?

I've hit at federal way several times, for both lessons and tournaments, usually only in the summer though (except tournaments) due to travel constraints. Kermit knows most of my family and my dad since my older brother played tennis against decatur when kermit's father was the coach. And actttuuuaallly, you might know a player on my team if you take lessons in fway. Travis Beck sound familiar? He's no.4 right now on our team.
Well, my bro and I lost to Puyallup, but that was expected. 6-4, 0-6, 0-6. Getting bagelled is really embarrassing after you win a set... I'll probably be playing singles instead soon.

Yeah, I played overland twice in two different tournaments this summer. Results: 0-6, 0-6 then, with an injured left wrist (no 2hbh
) 0-6, 1-6. I was actually able to compete with him better than I thought I would, just because he's been on fire the least few months.I wouldn't say Puyallup is the powerhouse; ER, Curtis, Todd Beamer, and Puyallup all have similar talent levels in terms of depth, but PHS has the pinkards (one is ~30 in 16s, other is the same in 14s) and Beamer has De La Cruz, so they've always got an upperhand. The SPSL South is REALLY weak this year; I would say without my injury this summer I would be top 70 sectional right now, and I'm the #3 player in our whole league. There must be something in the air up north that makes them play better :lol: I don't even see any of the doubles teams from the south making it to state, except the pinkard brothers from PHS if they play together.
TJ must be pretty strong this year too. I know you guys don't have any absolutely incredible players like some other north schools, but you've got a lot of depth. I think i've seen at least 5 of you guys at champs tournaments, so you should do well this year, no?
well the rosa brothers are solid champs players and brandon muraki and joe lee also play champs. Nothing spectacular but your right. We have some depth . I myself just started playing champs near the end of the summer but I wouldn't consider myself a champs player. But where do you usually practice in the winter. There aren't many places around here

Puyallup Balleys, very few people even know it exists, but it's churned out some very solid college players nonetheless.

I do know what you are talking about, as I have been in and around Sprinker for about 8 years now. That pro is a friend of mine and like you, he has been a great help to me. We do have some good solid players, but adding a quality player like yourself can only enhance a program.
You are correct, the level of play in the south SPSL is lacking this year, I have seen a few teams play and my son played in the league a few years ago.
I have met your doubles partner of last year, look forward to seeing you after the season to hit through the winter nad get ready for state.

lol, I look older and I'm taller even though i'm a year younger; I'm the one that has that "really nice" serve that I think you're talking about. I just hit my kick serve the entire week, I didn't lose a single service game in all 6 matches I played, so I felt pretty good about my serve to say the least
You guys played a great match, sadly my partner just wasn't playing up to his regular scuff during most of the tourney so we couldn't put up too much of a battle . I've noticed that KR always churns out great doubles teams, your coach must be amazing. I was really surprised that vineeth and paul lost to the pinkards, they hardly play any dubs at all, so to me it was still an upset even though the pinkards are better singles players.
You guys ended up beating beamer #1 in your next match, right? I hope you gave them a pounding, as I don't mean to sound harsh, but both of them are absolute *******s. Buchan had to come down and warn freidrickson to stop trying to distract us in the middle of our serves by bouncing all around the service box.

I was the asian one, i kept serving to your partners backhand hehehehehehehe. My partner played really well that match normally he's kinda bad cause he cant put away volley's has hit overheads to the fence, and misses alot of returns, and groundies trying to hit way to hard. We lost to muraki and gomez, and he is full of BS. He was like, "o yea, muraki's serve is definitely way better on this side" just cause he couldn't return his serve. ...

Yeah, it seemed like your partner was pretty "on" that game, he really drilled some of those returns. I still crack up when I think about my serve that you were returning that got stuck in the throat of your racquet while both you and your partner looked up to see where the ball went :lol:

TJTENNIS7...it's tough to give you a ton of positive news...some others have stated it real well. You are setting your self up for a tough road looking at a D2 (or any scholarship program) when you just don't have a ton of "skins on the wall" and aren't a "top dog" even at your HS. Why aren't you seeking a good D3? Loans and academic scholarships will get you there. The NTRP ratings again mean nothing (I have said this a hundred times). You look at a sheet that says this and that means you're a 4.5...wow, we all could be if we fit that characteristic. If we are playing weak competition then we all look better...stronger competition worse. I am a college coach, looking at the ratings page I'd be a 5.0 player easily. In real life I'll play 4.0 usually...the reason why...that's the level of player around me. If you want to play tennis then you fit yourself into the level. If I lived in Dallas/Houston/Chicago/LA/NY or another huge metro area where there are tons of high level players then I might play up because it was possible. Just my two cents...quit looking at ratings and start working on rankings...that's what get coaches attention.
